This guy, let’s call him BJ (short for brash journo), is an embarrassment to his own media organization and to all journalists.
Last week, BJ came in late to a high-level press conference for diplomatic and economic media in a luxurious hotel in Makati. That’s faux pas one. Everyone else’s camera was all setup many minutes before the briefing.
Faux pas two is when he unceremoniously plopped his phone and motorcycle battery-sized power bank in front of the ambassador who was already giving the opening remark.
Not contented, BJ again took his tools of the multimedia trade and placed them on top of a table still up in front for the next speaker, and that’s faux pas three.
According to some journalists who know him well, BJ has this habitual manner of doing this kind of practice and said he is too old to know the DOs and DONTs in media coverage. Sadly, his behavior was the hot topic among the cameramen and journos after the event. He was behaving like the neophyte he wasn’t, as he has been covering local and international trade beats.
