As part of its commitment to support the advancement of the country’s hyperscale industry, Manuel V. Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Company (Meralco) signed an agreement with A-FLOW for the construction of a 115-kV switching station that will cater to the power requirements of its ML1 data center in Biñan, Laguna.

A-FLOW is a joint venture between AyalaLand Logistics Holdings Corp. (ALLHC) and Singapore-headquartered data center developer and operator FLOW Digital Infrastructure.

Set to be completed in December 2025, the switching station will also help improve system reliability, benefitting the data center and its nearby areas.

“The signing of the Switching Station Agreement and Deed of Usufruct (SSADU) for dual feed from a 115-kV substation, marks a step forward in our shared commitment to develop critical infrastructure with highest redundancy and resiliency in the country. It’s a true showcase to the market and customers of what we can do to make an impact by ensuring uninterrupted operation, mitigating risk of downtime, and enhancing reliability,” said A-FLOW President and FLOW Digital Infrastructure Chief Executive Officer Amandine Wang.

Meralco recognizes the steady growth of data centers in the country as more businesses require robust data management and digital services support.

“With hyperscale data centers considered one of the emerging industries in the country, Meralco and its subsidiaries have been proactively preparing to meet the industry’s requirements and support its growth through our customized end-to-end energy+ solutions,” Meralco Senior Vice President and Chief Revenue Officer Ferdinand O. Geluz said.

The power distributor is committed to supporting the hyperscale industry by addressing its key requirements of high service-level agreements for redundancy and reliability, scalable capacity, safety, and renewable energy.

“We assure data center operators like A-FLOW of Meralco’s unwavering commitment to providing reliable power and innovative solutions, and energizing these critical digital infrastructure to meet global standards and further elevate the data center industry in our country,” Meralco Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Ronnie L. Aperocho concluded.
