The International IT-BPM Summit (IIS) 2024 will focus on generative artificial intelligence (AI) and other challenges currently shaping the industry and will set a forward-looking agenda for the future, the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP) said Thursday.
In a news release, IBPAP President and CEO Jack Madrid said, “The IT-BPM industry is navigating a complex landscape marked by rapid advancements in technology, shifting global dynamics, and evolving workforce needs.”
Talent and skills gaps, cybersecurity threats, and geopolitical uncertainties are among the topics to be tackled at the biggest industry event of the year scheduled on October 2-3, 2024, at the Okada Manila.
“At this year’s summit, we are committed to addressing these challenges head-on, from harnessing the potential of AI, to bridging the skills gap, and fortifying our cybersecurity measures,” Madrid said.
Together with industry leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders, IIS will open discussions on how to overcome these issues and leverage opportunities to keep the Philippines at the forefront of global IT-BPM excellence.
4E framework on AI
A recent Bloomberg article underscores AI’s transformative impact on the future of jobs due to AI-driven automation.
To mitigate potential job losses, IBPAP emphasized the importance of ensuring effective AI governance using a holistic approach centered on four key pillars of the 4E Framework:
Education through public AI literacy initiatives should be prioritized. Collaborative educational programs between academia, industry, and government must be established to empower society with the knowledge needed to navigate AI advancements.
Engineering. AI infrastructures must be built aligned with human values. Democratizing access to resources will drive innovation and diversity in AI development, with a focus on ethical prompt engineering.
Enforcement. A systematic process of incentives and penalties for AI use is necessary to integrate AI considerations into policies and ensure responsible AI development that protects societal interests.
Ethics. A culture of accountability is essential to uphold ethical AI implementation, ensuring that AI innovation benefits all members of society and aligns with ethical principles.
Madrid invited industry professionals, government, and stakeholders to join the International IT-BPM Summit 2024.
