Following the success of Team Philippines in the 2024 Paris Olympics, Philippine Airlines has again pledged support for the Filipino Paralympians who will be competing in the 2024 Paris Paralympics from August 28 to September 8.

In an exclusive send-off dinner last June 19, PAL gave 50,000 Mabuhay Miles to archer Augustina Maximo Bantiloc, swimmers Ernie Gawilan and Angel Otom, wheelchair racer Jerrold Mangliwan, javelin thrower Cendy Asusano, and taekwondo para-athlete Allain Ganapin. The flag carrier also committed to award additional miles to the Filipino Paralympians who will succeed in winning medals in their respective sports.

Paralympic medalists will be awarded Mabuhay Miles annually for three years: 150,000 miles for gold, 100,000 miles for silver, and 80,000 miles for bronze.

Mabuhay Miles is PAL’s frequent flier lifestyle program that rewards passengers with “miles” for every trip with the airline, which can be exchanged for – flights and other perks. Most recently, PAL awarded 150,000 Mabuhay Miles every year for a lifetime to two-time Olympics gold medalist and gymnast Carlos Yulo, and 80,000 Mabuhay Miles for three years to bronze medalists and boxers Nesthy Petecio and Aira Villegas respectively.

“Philippine Airlines believes in supporting our Paralympians as they exemplify perseverance and hard work, representing the best of the Philippines to the world. They are role models who inspire people of all abilities to pursue their goals and go further. By backing our Paralympians, we promote inclusivity and contribute to a sense of national pride, supporting not just our Olympic athletes but our Paralympians as well,” said Alvin Miranda, PAL’s Vice President for Marketing.

Inclusivity continues to be a core value of PAL, and the flag carrier exemplifies a robust commitment to fostering an inclusive environment for the benefit of all its passengers by making air travel more accessible for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Special assistance courtesy check-in lanes, wheelchair assistance during departure and arrival, special seating accommodations, free checked-in baggage, and special meals are among the services provided by the airline for PWDs.

The Filipino Paralympians are part of the airline’s #PRsGoFurther campaign, which highlights athletes’ personal records to raise awareness and encourage Filipinos to celebrate their achievements. “Through our #PRsGoFurther campaign, we also shine a well-deserved spotlight on our Paralympians’ personal records as they strive for glory on the global stage of the Paralympic games. Let’s come together to celebrate our Paralympians and their incredible achievements. Their victories are a source of pride for the entire nation,” Miranda added.

PAL previously inked a partnership with the Philippine Sports Commission to solidify the airline’s commitment to support the Filipino Olympians and Paralympians in this year’s Paris 2024

Olympic and Paralympic Games. PAL encourages Filipinos to rally behind our Paralympians by engaging with their events, supporting them on social media, and sharing their stories.
