Globe has fired up four new cell towers in the municipality of Liloan, Cebu, home of the world-famous Rosquillos, significantly enhancing connectivity and digital access for local communities.

This development is seen to benefit residents in the coastal town, particularly in Brgy. Tayud, a remote industrial area that hosts two of these towers. The other facilities are located in Brgy. San Vicente and Brgy. Yati.

Previously limited to sparse 4G and 5G coverage, the three communities now experience a significant boost in mobile and internet services, enriching their daily lives and opening up new opportunities for growth and development.

With the additional network infrastructure, locals can explore more remote work, engage in online learning, and embark on e-commerce ventures through social media and other digital platforms. Businesses can also employ digital solutions to increase productivity and operational efficiency.

“We are unwavering in our commitment to expanding our network to ensure that more Filipinos have access to reliable and fast internet, no matter where they are,” said Joel Agustin, Globe SVP and Head of Network Planning and Engineering.

“This initiative is set to uplift people’s quality of life, bolster local businesses, and drive economic growth in Liloan,” he added.

Brgy. Tayud, which supports Liloan’s shipyards and shipbuilding activities, stands to gain immensely from this upgrade. As the barangay is far away from the city center, the activation of the two towers can help bridge the digital divide for its 22,000 residents.

Among the areas the cell sites cover are Tayud Barangay Hall, Corbox Corporation, Apollo’s View (ground level), Amara, Gallardo’s Venue, and Makaloka Beach Resort.

In Brgy. San Vicente, the new tower benefits nearly 13,000 residents, while the tower in Brgy. Yati provides improved connectivity to 37,000 residents.

Since Brgy. Tayud and Bgy. San Vicente have been identified as flood-prone areas due to rising sea levels, Globe’s new builds could also play a vital role in disaster preparedness and response such as aiding in early warning systems and coordination of relief efforts.

Another immediate benefit for residents of the three barangays is easier access to the municipality’s LiveLoveLiloan App, which offers a range of services, including an online marketplace for local vendors, emergency services, and an electronic transport system.

Globe’s continuous investment in network infrastructure is part of its mission to ensure that all communities in the Philippines can fully participate in and take advantage of the digital economy.
