It’s undeniable that when it comes to gin, the British people know better than any other nationalities because gin has been a part of their culture for a long time. On the other hand, it is interesting to note that Filipinos who are not experts in gin have been drinking gin for almost 200 years, not because it is affordable but because it is also the most accessible and commercially available drink even in the countryside.

Cognizant of gin in both Filipino and British culture, the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) launches and celebrates the 11th World Gin Day on June 27, 2024, at Dusit Thani, Makati, as the Chamber puts a spotlight on the UK and the Philippines’ award-winning gin brands.

In partnership with Ginebra San Miguel Inc., the Philippines’ oldest and number-one gin brand, the British Chamber also presents an opportunity to showcase GSMI’s renowned products as well as gins from all over the UK, including Whitley Neill Gin, G&I Spirit Group Ltd, and many more British gins. The event will also highlight the 6th BCCP Bartending Competition to feature an array of talented bartenders in the country.

The British Chamber’s 10th World Gin Day held last June 22, 2023, showcased a diverse selection of gins originating from the UK, along with the debut of GSMI’s latest Premium Gin and the renowned 1834 gin. Additionally, the event spotlighted the exceptional expertise of the city’s top bartenders through the 5th BCCP Bartending Competition.

The Philippines continues to grow as the world’s largest gin market. According to an International Wine and Spirits Record (ISWR) report, the country’s gin volumes grew at a compound annual growth rate of 5% between 2012 and 2017, and 6% between 2017 and 2022.

The British Chamber is in pursuit to help widen the Philippine gin market and bolster UK-PH business relations.
