The buzzword has been “financial literacy”, that is by learning how to save, earn, spend, and donate money wisely. Pru Life UK advocates financial freedom and it goes with it is financial literacy. But going further, apart from literacy, smart money management skills are also taught, and this is part of financial responsibility. This step is crucial to an individual’s life since being educated in handling money does not stop within the four corners of the classroom — it is for financial progress for a lifetime!

Having been at the forefront of serving people from their insurance to investment solutions, Pru Life UK is committed to empowering people through its advocacy program under Prudence Foundation’s Cha Ching, wherein kids are taught to help them organize their finances, no matter how big or small they have.

In partnership with Junior Achievement (JA) Asia Pacific & JA Philippines, the “Cha-Ching’s One Million: Building Resilient Communities through Financial Education” event was launched at Marco Polo Ortigas, Manila.

Speaking with THEPHILBIZNEWS, 19-year old Rhane Miranda, Cha-Ching’s curriculum alumna, described her experience as “educational, inclusive, and transformative”. Having enrolled at 11 years old, Miranda shared that she’s now “well-informed” and “can share her knowledge with other people” by valuing her own money and education.

“JA and Cha-ching really helped my full-circle moment,” she added. Miranda is now serving as the Alumni President of JA Philippines and is currently a Speech Communications student at UP Diliman. She believes that other kids can also have their own full-circle moment.

Furthermore, the Cha-Ching program has expanded across 16 countries around the world. It continues to add to the piggy bank of legacy in securing the future of kids with financial literacy knowledge, skills, and practices.

“Financial literacy is one of the ultimate drivers of financial inclusion,” said Atty. Reynaldo Regalado during his remarks. Insurance Commissioner Reynaldo also highlighted that financial literacy is not only a personal endeavor but also a “collective mission”, emphasizing how the Cha-Ching One Million activity was a testament to success through the years of collaboration.

Other speakers include Pru Life UK President and CEO Sanjay Chakrabarty, Prudence Foundation Regional Programme Manager Pia Warburton, JA Asia Pacific President and CEO, Maziar Sabet, and Department of Education Assistant Secretary for Operations, Dexter Galban.

From being a Cha-Ching student to a financially responsible adult someday, Cha-Ching program will continue to secure the children’s future, equipping them with the necessary learnings and insights— from one student to a million, and many more — ultimately leading them to more informed and confident financial decisions in the future.
