Elaine Antonio Bordeaux, a distinguished Filipina-American immigration lawyer and acclaimed sculptor, has been named one of the recipients of the 2024 Global Women Who Rule (GWWR) award.
This prestigious accolade, to be presented on May 25, 2024, celebrates women who have made significant contributions in their respective fields, showcasing leadership, innovation, and global impact.
Bordeaux has achieved notable success as an immigration lawyer, passionately advocating for immigrants’ rights and providing critical support to those navigating complex legal challenges. Her dedication to justice and equality has enabled numerous individuals and families to realize their dreams and secure better futures.
In addition to her legal career, Bordeaux is a talented sculptor. She recently collaborated with artist Fritz Silorio to create a 6-foot sculpture of Dr. Jose Rizal, which is scheduled for installation in Colorado Springs in June 2025. Her latest project, the “Courage” exhibit, will be displayed at the San Francisco Philippine Consulate from July 8 to July 12, 2024, with an opening night event on July 8 at 5 pm.
This exhibit features a series of works depicting historical icons such as Lapulapu, Dr. Jose Rizal, and Apo Whang Od, culminating in the unveiling of a relief sculpture honoring Filipina war hero Magdalena Leones, a Silver Star awardee. The “Courage” exhibit was previously showcased in Barcelona and Madrid last year.

I am also thrilled to present the ‘Courage’ exhibit and pay tribute to the bravery and heroism of Magdalena Leones as a Filipina war hero during World War II.”
