Singapore is not only known for its towering skyscrapers and bustling city, but also for its vibrant beat of Jazz music. This genre has flourished as a significant cultural phenomenon because of its dynamic location through the years.

In celebration of 55 years of diplomatic ties between Singapore and the Philippines, the Singapore Embassy in Manila spearheaded The Colors of Jazz Festival at Sofitel Manila Garden on May 3, 2024 (Friday).

From cocktails to timeless jazz rhythms, the event put on spotlight Singapore’s very own Michelle SgP, along with the Manila Philharmonic Orchestra, filling the vicinity with soulful melodies and rejuvenating tunes.

With Michelle’s remarkable performance, she epitomizes the “music cosmopolitan,” or “voice of Singapore” — which music resonates with the soul of her audiences. Other jazz performers featured: Khaossia, PIjazz All-Stars, and The Brass Munkeys.

The artists’ presentations mirrored the transformation of Singapore, known for a blend of tradition and modernity amidst the bustling metropolis. The nostalgic beats and jazz music keep to their unique rhythm in the contemporary world.

Jazz serves as timeless tunes that evoke emotions, inspire, and promote a sense of serenity to its listeners. Indeed, the ‘Colors of Jazz’ that the Singapore Embassy in Manila hosted signifies meaningful expressiveness of mutual friendship between Singaporeans and Filipinos as well as a celebration of shared music and cultural appreciation.
