Biden sends powerhouse trade & investment delegates to Phl

Signaling fresh economic opportunities for the Philippines and the United States, the White House on Thursday (EST) officially announced a powerhouse set of delegates of the U.S. Presidential Trade and Investment Mission (PTIM) scheduled to visit the country on March 11-12.

Led by Secretary Gina Raimondo of the U.S. Department of Commerce, the rest of U.S. President Joe Biden’s delegation to the Philippines are:

GreenFire Energy Inc.’s advanced geothermal systems can jumpstart the Marcos administration in its National Renewable Energy Program, and help address the ongoing power shortages in areas like Mindoro and Panay Island.

On the other hand, tech giants Google and Microsoft can help in the country’s digital transformation. Visa and Mastercard, for their part, can help facilitate the expansion of e-commerce in the Philippines.

This PTIM is part of President Biden’s commitment to President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in the latter’s working visit to the U.S. in May 2023.

President Marcos’s foreign travels are focused on bringing into the country foreign direct investments that will generate jobs and hasten the Philippines’ economic growth and development.
