On December 17, commencing at 6:20 p.m. for approximately 15 minutes, Tokyo Tower Light-Up Ceremony was held to commemorate the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation. The ceremony, which was held in Azabudai Hills, was attended by Prime Minister KISHIDA Fumio and his spouse, Mrs. KISHIDA Yuko, and the ASEAN leaders and their spouses, as well as participants in the “ASEAN-Japan Students Conference” and students from ASEAN countries studying at the National Defense Academy of Japan.
Tokyo Tower was lit in the three colors of red, yellow, and blue, the colors of this Commemorative Summit’s logo and the ASEAN flag, with the wording of “ASEAN JAPAN” displayed on the observation deck, as designed by Motoko Ishii Lighting Design Inc. Hello Kitty, popular character in South-east Asia as well, also participated in the ceremony, celebrating her 50th anniversary, just like ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation.
Prime Minister Kishida and his spouse, Mrs. Kishida, and the ASEAN leaders and their spouse signed, together with other attendees, their names on the board and renewed their thoughts toward the further development of the solid Japan-ASEAN partnership called “Heart-to-Heart Partners.”
