The British Chamber of Commerce hosted the event, “A Year After: Build, Better, More” yesterday, July 13, in Ballroom 1, Fairmont Hotel, Makati City.

In time for President Marcos Jr.’s 2nd State of the Nation Address (SONA) set on the 24th of July, BCCP’s event highlighted his administration’s key achievements and how his plans/initiatives build a better or more investment-driven economy for the Philippines.

The event would focus on “increasing access to foreign investment, tackling market access barriers, and continuing to create an investment-friendly environment which will accelerate infrastructure developments. It will also help food and energy security, it will create millions of new jobs, and that is what will help the Philippines Build, Better, More,” said British Embassy Manila’s Deputy Head of Mission Alistair White in his Welcoming Remarks.

The event was participated by key government officials and representatives from the private sectors who shared their insights on advancing “Build, Better, More” to work towards a resilient future. The panel discussion was joined by Sandeep Uppal, HSBC Philippines’ President & CEO and moderated by Aaron “ACE” Escartin from SGV & Co.

Build, Better, More event is aligned with the British Chamber’s 2023 objectives of further opening up the Philippine market, a boost of infrastructure and digitalisation, and ease of doing business. The Chamber is confident that 2023 will be a year of economic milestones, such as with the progressive developments on the Infrastructure Flagship Projects (IFPs).

As House Speaker Martin Romualdez shared in his Keynote video speech, “On behalf of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, I thank the BCCP for its tireless advocacy in boosting our local economy, infrastructure, and investor confidence. Mabuhay ang Pilipinas. Mabuhay ang UK. Together, let’s build a better and brighter future.”

The British Chamber of Commerce remains committed to helping make the Philippines an investment destination by reinforcing the British presence in the country and strengthening UK-PH trade relations. ###
