Germany expressed dismay over China’s aggressive behavior in the West Philippine Sea after China’s Coast Guard made reckless maneuvers against the Philippines Coast Guard.
On her Twitter, German Ambassador Anke Reiffenstuel said that such aggressive behavior has no place in the SouthChinaSea and rules-based international maritime order and the 2016 Arbitration Ruling as its center must be respected.
Last July 12, 2016, the arbitral tribunal ruled in favor of the Philippine and nullified China’s historic rights claims over maritime areas invoking the imaginary and historical claim using the “nine-dash line”.
