There’s no stopping Mekeni Food Corporation! After the successful launch of its Mekeni fishballs and kikiam in the US last year, the Porac, Pampanga based company seizes another global opportunity that would resonate “Galing ng Pilipino” not just to the Filipino people but also to the world through the global quality products that Mekeni has been known for.
Speaking to THEPHILBIZNEWS, after his successful launching of Mekeni Halal products in Qatar, Mekeni Food Corp. President Pruds Garcia said, “We are blessed to have this partnership in Qatar. It’s a partnership made in heaven.”
“Before, we were just exporting a few selected SKUs of Mekeni Halal products to Qatar, and other Middle East countries. But now we are producing them here. Mekeni is grateful to Mr. Hassan Alkhiyami, the Chief Operating Officer at Qatar National and Export for making this partnership happen. Now that we are producing here in Qatar, we can look beyond Qatar and consider expanding to other Middle East markets.
“It has been our ardent dream to continue to serve the Qatar market with Halal products but it was stalled momentarily. But everything happens for a reason, and always a good reason such as this partnership with QNIE. Modesty aside, it’s a formidable partnership. Mr. Alkhiyami’s QNIE has strength in distribution, production, marketing, and a very established and respectable company in Qatar. While for us in Mekeni, we bring the well-loved and world-class quality products to Qatar by producing them here. We are truly overwhelmed by how the Filipino community in Qatar showed their warm welcome to Mekeni,” Garcia added.
Interestingly, Garcia said that based on the information they got from Qatar Visa Center, there are estimated 250,000 Filipinos now working in this country and looking at this figure plus the ones from other GCC countries, the potential is big.
“There is a huge potential because it’s a captured market, not to mention the neighboring GCC countries which are also part of the market we want to serve. I remember when I worked in Saudi Arabia before, as a former OFW and also with other OFWs there, we missed Philippines, we missed our family, and most certainly the food back in our home. This is why we worked hard to this plan out until it is realized,” Garcia said.
This is just the beginning, the best is yet to come and we hope and pray that our Qatari friends will also like and patronize our hotdog, tocino, and longanisa, not only because they are Halal but also because these are formulated following world-class standards and with different taste preferences in mind,” he added.
Aside from Qatar, Mekeni products are also available in the US, the UAE, Canada, Australia, Bahrain, Brunei, The Netherlands, and New Zealand.
“We are very pleased and grateful to forge reliable partnerships that help increase Mekeni’s footprint across the globe, and we look forward to bringing more products here and beyond. By doing this, we can all be proud that the Filipinos and Filipino companies are globally competitive and world class. This has been part of our mantra” Garcia concluded.
