On 22 June 2023, the British Chamber of Commerce Philippines will be celebrating its 10th World Gin Day at Dusit Thani, Makati City.
In partnership with Ginebra San Miguel Incorporated (GSMI), the British Chamber will be hosting its 5th Bartending Competition. GSMI will also showcase its new Premium Gin and 1834, and there will be a variety of UK gins.
To date, participating UK companies include Smeaton’s Gin, The, Maidstone Distillery, Brighton Gin, Cambridge Distillery, House of Elrick, Chatsworth Gins, Jensen’s Gin, Spirit of Trent, The Little Gin and Rum Company, and 1000 Trades Distillery.
The most awaited UK gins vary from sweet to strong flavours such as bristol method dry, rose pink, truffle, seaside-strength, pomegranate, hibiscus and elderberry gin and among others.
Further, the British Chamber is collaborating with the Scottish Chambers of Commerce which helps in inviting Scottish gin companies to participate in the upcoming event.
The British Chamber aims for the participating UK gin companies to expand their business in the Philippines as the country is one of the largest markets for gin. Moreover, IWSR forecasts the total gin consumption is expected to rise 4.4.% during the period 2018-2023. In addition, the Philippine market expanded by 5.3% between 2013 and 2018 with a forecast 2018-2023 compound annual growth rate of 3.8%.
Aside from the sample tasting of several gins from the UK, the World Gin Day 2023 event will highlight the British Chamber’s commitment to fully supporting the UK SMEs like the food and beverage industry to enter the Philippine market.
