The British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) welcomes APAC Deputy Trade Commissioner Sam Myers who visited its office in BGC last May 19, 2023.
Other representatives from the Department for Business and Trade (DBT) include Bilateral Relations – Philippines Team Lead Priya Soni and Policy Advisor Elizabeth Tossel. British Embassy Manila’s DBT team includes Director of Trade and Investment Lindsey Gilbert-Crouch and Head of Multilateral Engagement and Trade Policy Jannica Gaisano.
The meeting was represented by BCCP’s Chairman William Bailey and Trustee Chris Ward.
In addition, Deputy Trade Commissioner Myers commended the “prolific impact of the British Chamber’s efforts on media and trade and investment opportunities” from initiatives leading to the growth of British exports, the success of the Great British Festival in BGC, and the passage of the Philippine economic laws through active engagements.
Currently, there are discussions about how the Philippines is interested in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
Further, the launch of the UK’s Developing Countries Trading Scheme (DCTS) DCTS in the Philippines will be on June 7, 2023. DCTS will replace the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) and will help strengthen and diversify UK supply chains.
With this, the British Chamber looks forward to strengthening strong relations with the British Embassy — and further boosting trade relations in the Asia Pacific.
