PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) signed a contract with the Philippine Department of National Defense (DND) on April 13, 2023, for the procurement of 6 (six) units of NC212i (Light Lift Fixed-Wing Aircraft) along with its spare parts for the Philippine Air Force (PAF). The signing ceremony took place in Manila at the Philippine Department of National Defense.

The signing of the contract is a follow-up of the Notice of Award from the Philippine Department of National Defense, which was announced last March 10, 2023. The contract was signed by Indar Atmoko, Group Head of Commercial from PTDI, and witnessed by Engr. Samuel A Castro representing the Philippine DND.

The Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Manila stated that the signing of the contract reflects the trust of the Philippine Government, especially the Department of National Defense, in Indonesian defense products that have various advantages both in technology and after-sales services.

In addition to acquiring the said contract, PTDI has also obtained a maintenance contract for 2 (two) NC212i aircrafts of the Philippine Air Force, which was purchased from PTDI in 2014. The aircraft maintenance will be carried out at PT DI Bandung. The contract has been signed and the ferry flight is planned for the 4th week of April 2023.

Indar Atmoko, Group Head Commercial of PTDI, said that the procurement of 6 units of NC212i is a continuation of the previous procurement of 2 units in 2014. “This indicates that our products’ quality are accepted by customers in supporting their mission operations, in this case, the Philippines Air Force,” said Indar Atmoko. Last year, during his state visit to Jakarta, President Marcos Jr. expressed his commitment to completing the procurement process as soon as possible during a meeting with President Joko Widodo. And on April 13, 2023, PTDI finally received DND’s invitation to sign the contract.

With this achievement, PTDI is grateful to be able to participate in enhancing security and defense cooperation in the Southeast Asian region, especially between the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia and the Philippines. PTDI will always be ready to provide other defense equipment needed by the Philippines. “We extend our appreciation to the Ambassador of Indonesia in Manila and his team for their unwavering guidance and support throughout our activities in Manila. We look forward to our continued collaboration towards future successes, and for the increasing recognition and utilization of our defense industry products on a global scale”, said Indar Atmoko after the signing of the contract.

Several Indonesian state-owned enterprises that have successfully entered the Philippine market and won procurement projects in the public transportation, infrastructure, and defense sectors include PT INKA, PT WIKA, PT Dirgantara Indonesia, PT LEN Railway Systems, and PT PAL.
