The Embassy of Israel in the Philippines, together with its partner institutions, brought the ISHA Project: A Woman’s Health and Wellness Advocacy to the City of San Juan in celebration of International Women’s Month. The ISHA Project provided seventy (70) pre-selected women from the city a free health and wellness package consisting of PAP smear, breast examination, and consultation.
“ISHA means ‘woman’ in Hebrew. The ISHA project of MASHAV – Israel’s International Development Agency serves as an effective and efficient partner for responding to the health and wellness needs of Filipinas who have limited access to health services. The projects aims to detect cervical and breast cancer for early prevention or cure,” Israeli Ambassador Ilan Fluss said. “The Embassy is happy to renew our commitment with San Juan City to do more projects like this that will benefit women.”
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora, together with his wife Keri Zamora, councilors, and city officials, extended their gratitude to the Embassy of Israel and its partner agencies for choosing San Juan to benefit from the initiative. Mayor Zamora shared that this project is close to his heart, citing that his wife is a breast cancer survivor herself.
The ISHA Project was initially launched in partnership with Makati Medical Center Foundation (MMCF) in March 2022. This year, MMCF again showed support by providing doctors and personnel who administered the health package. The Operation Blessing Foundation Philippines, Inc. also provided a mobile clinic and sent volunteers to the said project. The ISHA Project event was held on the 13th of March 2023 in the City of San Juan.
Now in its second year, the ISHA Project is an annual initiative of the Israeli Embassy to celebrate International Women’s Month.
