ePLDT affirms its commitment to help advance the country’s digitalization drive with the rise of its largest hyperscale data center yet, VITRO Sta. Rosa. The facility will go live by early next year with an initial power capacity of 14 megawatts (MW), and will further increase to 50MW once fully operational.

“With these data center energy forecasts and insights put to light, we look forward to continue working with our government and multi-sectoral partners to ensure sufficient energy supply to power the digital future of all Filipinos,” ePLDT Chief Data Center Officer Gary Ignacio said during the 25th Powertrends International Business Forum held on February 9, 2023.

Mr. Ignacio, who oversees the data center business of ePLDT, highlighted that the Philippines’ data center energy requirements are expected to exceed those of other sectors due to the rapid growth of digitalization and digital transformation.

It is estimated that by 2027, the critical power capacity needed for data center infrastructure in the Philippines will reach approximately 182 MW.
