There is no stopping RCBC as they continue to rake in coveted international awards even as the year is about to end. Banking on its innovation and compassion for the end users, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC)’s financial inclusion super app DiskarTech continues to be the bank to beat as it takes home the Best Innovation under the Service and Solutions Category in the recently held International Innovation Awards 2022.

RCBC DiskarTech bannered the Philippine flag under the Service and Solution Category for its second year. The super app is cited as one of the most innovative solutions in the region, at par with international standards. Beyond technology, the award-giving ceremony recognizes people-centric approaches that empower people.

“RCBC DiskarTech is a result of RCBC’s shared vision that every innovation should be designed to address challenges and uplift our users’ lives. Technology when combined with empathy produces solutions that make lasting positive impacts,” said Lito Villanueva, RCBC Executive Vice President and Chief Innovation and Inclusion Officer.

Alongside the back-to-back win, Lito Villanueva, who’s also RCBC’s Digital Enterprises and Innovations Group head, bags the Outstanding Leadership Award during the Money 2.0 conference in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The award recognizes global and leading thought leaders in the realm of finance. VIllanueva through his pivotal role in RCBC has led the robust growth of their digital innovations. RCBC’s digital business posted a 50% jump in its revenue and a 33% leap in its gross transaction value across its digital solutions including its one-stop-shop virtual bank RCBC Digital, the country’s first multi-lingual financial inclusion app DiskarTech, the Philippines’ first community and most expansive last mile automated teller machine RCBC ATM GO, and the recently launched ‘phygital’ blended banking experience MoneyBela Barangayan Banking.

Villanueva, the first and only Filipino to receive global recognition, was cited for his unparalleled contributions to the field of inclusive digital finance with his series of award-winning and growth-driven financial innovations generating massive social impact to bring millions of Filipinos into the formal financial system.

“Today’s finance is about two things: winning together and innovating with empathy. Winning together means every institution working hand-in-hand and developing human-centric digital finance solutions to achieve our shared vision of a digitally-abled and financially-inclusive Philippines,” said Villanueva.

“This award energizes us more to continue RCBC’s position as the undisputed, leading, and award-winning digital challenger bank in the Philippines,” Villanueva said.

Through Villanueva’s leadership, RCBC Digital Enterprises and Innovations Group won more than 100 awards, most of which are achieved despite the ongoing pandemic such as being named the three-peat Best Bank For Digital by Asia Money. Moreover, RCBC ATM Go shattered records in 2022 as the first agnostic ATM with 100% coverage across 82 provinces in the country. More than 60% of the transactions in the platform are attributed to 4Ps or conditional cash transfer programs of the government.
