Metro Pacific Tollways South (MPT South), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC), readies for the expected motorists’ surge during the observation of the All Saints and All Souls’ Days as cemeteries reopen for Undas week.
With this, the toll road operator again reinforces road safety for Undas travelers and reactivates the “Safe Trip Mo, Sagot Ko” (SMSK) program across its high-speed road networks Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), with its joint venture partner, the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) and its operating subsidiary PEA Tollway Corporation (PEATC) for Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) and CAVITEX C5 Link.
“This year’s celebration of Undas season will be different from the past two years as cemeteries, especially in Metro Manila, now reopens and more motorists are expected to ply the roads. We are anticipating as much as 10% increase in the volume of vehicles that will pass through our toll roads from October 28 to November 2, 2022,” said MPT South’s President and General Manager Mr. Raul L. Ignacio.
From 6 AM on October 28 up to 6 AM on November 2, 2022, MPT South toll roads will provide free towing to the nearest exit for Class 1 vehicles needing assistance. There will be intensified 24/7 motorist assistance and will augment the deployment of traffic operations personnel at toll plazas and on the ground to ensure smooth traffic. CAVITEX Customer Service Centers (Cavite and Manila bound) will be available 24/7 for RFID health check, installation, and reloading. Additional cash lanes for cash-paying motorists will be open to cater to seasonal travelers with no RFID.
Emergency medical service, incident response team, and towing services will be placed on high alert status to be able to respond to the motorist in need.
MPT South’s Facebook accounts (fb.com/cavitexpressway and fb.com/OfficialCALAX) and Twitter accounts (@CaviteXpressway and @OfficialCALAX) along with its hotline 1-35000 will also be on standby 24/7 to accommodate customer needs. MPTC’s all-in-one MPT DriveHub app will also support SMSK program by providing 24/7 traffic updates and easy access to RFID transactions, reloading, trip planning, and even emergency roadside assistance.
“Apart from our initiatives to our commitment to advocating road safety this long weekend for Undas 2022, we also continue to remind our motorists to always check the handy mnemonic BLOWBAGETS before hitting the road. It stands for Battery, Lights, Oil, Water, Brakes, Air, Gas, Engine, Tire, and Self. We also encourage our motorists to use the MPT DriveHub app to check on traffic conditions and top-up their load for a more seamless travel,” added Mr. Ignacio.
Aside from the CALAX and CAVITEX network of toll roads, MPTC’s domestic portfolio includes the concessions for the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the NLEX Connector Road, the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.
