The Philippines’ most-loved iconic bookstore, National Book Store, re-opened its online store in 2020  due to the high demand for books, stationery, and other office essentials for the work-from-home crowd at the height of the pandemic. With the relaunch of their e-commerce site and a shift to remote work,  they needed a reliable, high-capacity connectivity partner.

This meant employees could work from home with ease, and customers could always access the bookstore’s e-commerce site at any time of day, anywhere in the country. To be able to adapt and provide an excellent shopping experience to customers, both in-person and online, as well as ensure continuous business productivity, the company needed high-speed, reliable, and secure connectivity.

In order to accommodate these changes to adapt to a digital, always-connected environment, National  Book Store, partnered with Converge ICT Solutions, Inc with their enterprise-grade product, Ethernet Cloud Direct Connect which allows them a fast and secure connection to Amazon Web Services (AWS) that hosts their SAP and e-Wallet services.

“We chose Converge as our cloud connectivity partner because of their private connection to the public cloud, allowing us to maintain optimal performance with secured and dedicated access to AWS,” said Xandra Ramos-Padilla, Managing Director of National Book Store.

“The higher speed of data transmission and stable consistency of Converge have helped us achieve a  99% up time for our systems, helping us perform essential functions in a timely and efficient manner.  Ensuring good connectivity for our enterprise systems helps us fulfill our mission of providing the best shopping experience for every Laking National customer and enables our employees to always be productive,” Ramos-Padilla added.

To further enhance their branch operations, National Book Store also availed of Converge’s flexiBIZ Broadband for Business. As the most innovative fiber-based broadband solution for businesses, this  allows National Book Store to not only dramatically increase bandwidth to their key branches, but also  lower the monthly costs of connectivity. Having the increased bandwidth capacity from flexiBIZ will also allow National Book Store to roll out more digital services to their stores in the future, helping the company adapt to a rapidly advancing online age.

“We’re proud to be National Book Store’s partner in connectivity, helping them become a retailer at the  forefront of the ever-changing digital landscape,” said Converge Chief Operations Officer, Jesus C.  Romero. “As a well-loved monolith in the book retail industry, we are honored to provide them the  necessary enterprise-grade tools to make sure their iconic presence is always felt here in the country,  and in online spaces.” Converge has been providing businesses and companies secure and dynamic enterprise-grade fiber  solutions to help retail businesses like National Book Store ensure their businesses run smoothly.
