No truth to allegations: PNP, PAGCOR reps ensured peaceful transition of management

The group of Chairman Kazuo Okada is once again managing Okada Manila by virtue of the Status Quo Ante Order (SQAO) issued by the Supreme Court, dated 27 April 2022. In the case of “Kazuo Okada vs. Tiger Resort, Leisure & Entertainment, Inc, et al.” (G.R. No.256470), which is effective until further order, directs the “respondent, its agents, representatives, or any person acting in their place or stead, to maintain the status quo prevailing prior to petitioner’s removal as sole representative of Tiger Resort Asia Limited (TRAL) and as stockholder, director, chairman, and CEO of Tiger Resort Leisure and Entertainment, Inc. (TRLEI) in 2017.”

In compliance with the SQAO issued by the highest court of the Philippines, on May 2, 2022, Mr. Kazuo Okada re-installed the Board of Directors and officers of TRLEI, who are recognized by the gaming regulator – Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) as the legitimate Board and Officers of TRLEI and consistent with the SQAO.

Meanwhile, the personalities opposing the return of Mr. Kazuo Okada, in response, have filed an Urgent Motion for Reconsideration to ask the Supreme Court to revoke or reconsider its status quo order.

Contrary to news reports, there is no truth to the allegation that representatives of Kazuo Okada, made up of “50 goons” conducted a “violent” and “illegal” takeover on May 31, 2022. The fact of the matter is that Mr. Okada’s representatives included members of the Philippine National Police, four Sheriffs, and witnessed by the representatives of PAGCOR. Mr. Kazuo Okada has been reinstated as sole representative of Tiger Resort Asia Limited (TRAL) and Chairman and CEO of Okada Manila. The Board designated Mr. Antonio Cojuangco as President and Mr. Dindo Espeleta as Vice Chairman.

Okada Manila management wishes to assure its stakeholders that operations at Okada Manila remain business as usual.
