The weirdest ad of 2020 is still making waves over a year later. RC Cola’s ‘Basta!’ (‘Whatever!’) campaign created by GIGIL Agency Philippines has been awarded a bronze trophy by the Clio Awards in the Film category.

Founded in 1959 to honor excellence in advertising, the Clio Awards celebrates bold work that propels the advertising industry forward, inspires a competitive marketplace of ideas, and fosters meaningful connections within the creative community. It is based in New York City.

RC Cola’s campaign films ‘Family’ and ‘Band’ took netizens by storm for their absurd, out-of-this-world humor, earning a spot in internet pop culture. But behind this seemingly nonsensical campaign is a strategic approach to the brand’s business problem.

As a result, the campaign raked in over 47 million views, 395 thousand shares, and even became the #1 trending topic on Twitter in the Philippines for days – all with minimal media spend. But the best part? RC Cola ‘Family’  helped the brand achieve a 67% increase in the sales of RC Cola Mega.
