Moviemov Italian Film Fest, produced and organized by the PlaytownRoma Cultural Association and directed by Fabia Bettini and Gianluca Giannelli, is back. The traveling festival–born in 2010 thanks to the support of the Direzione Generale per il Cinema, the Italian Ministry for Culture, in collaboration and at the request of the Italian Embassies–will be held online for its 11th edition from March 31 to April 4 and will be visible in Thailand and the Philippines. This is also due to the collaboration with the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and the Philippine-Italian Association (PIA), through which Philippine universities and students organizations were engaged.
Following the successes met in Manila, Bangkok, and Hanoi, which over the years have brought more than 200 films to Southeast Asia with over 150 guests, including Agostino Ferrente, Carolina Crescentini, Pippo Del Bono, Ferzan Ozpetek , Paola Minaccioni, Elda Ferri, Roberto Faenza, the Taviani Brothers, Marco Risi, Andrea Bosca, Claudio Cupellini, Salvatore Striano, Giuseppe Tornatore, Isabella Ragonese, and after the two online editions in the Philippines, the festival returns to its true Southeast Asian vocation.Â
The film ambassador of this 2022 edition will be the actor, Lorenzo Richelmy, known on Netflix for the Marco Polo series, who will present, in preview, the film “Il diario di spezie” / The Diary of Spices–the debut of Massimo Donati as filmmaker.
The screenings (free of charge and in the original language with English subtitles) will be accompanied as usual by talks with actors, directors and producers, among the artists who have already confirmed their presence. In addition to this year’s film ambassador, will be the actors– Antonia Truppo, Paolo Calabresi, Carlotta Antonelli, Anna Ferruzzo, and the directors– Hleb Papou and Renzo Carbonera.
Viewers will be in a real, albeit virtual, movie theater, where they will be able to interact with the protagonists of the films thanks to a chat box, by which students and the general audience will be able to comment and get insightful feedback.
Moviemov Italian Film Festival 2022 is organized in different sections–the Moviemov Showcase, with eight Italian titles in showcase, the Tribute to Pier Paolo Pasolini on the occasion of his centennial, the Educational Segment that features talks and masterclasses, and the Times for the Industry.
