True to its commitment to support the Philippines not only in the Spanish government’s effort to strengthen the bilateral relationships but also in the economic recovery.

Today, Spain delivered 453,600 doses of Moderna vaccines which arrived today at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

In the communique sent by the Spanish Embassy in Manila to THEPHILBIZNEWS, the arrival of the vaccines in Manila was attended by Department of Health Secretary of Health Francisco Duque III, NTF Chief Implementer Carlito Galvez and Spanish Ambassador to the Philippines His Excellency Jorge Moragas.

Ambassador Moragas underscored Spain’s commitment to the Philippines, “This donation demonstrates, once again, Spain’s commitment to the health and well-being of the people of the Philippines.”

“This donation, the only one Spain has made in Asia so far, is a demonstration of our special friendship with the Philippines. it follows strict epidemiological criteria and is supported by the COVAX mechanism,” Moragas added.

Spain is fully committed to multilateral efforts. Consequently, this donation, and more than 95% of Spanish total donations, have been made through the COVAX mechanism. COVAX mechanism allocates vaccines based on objective criteria and taking into account the epidemiological needs of the countries of destination. The vaccines will be distributed with logistical support from UNICEF.

This donation also is part also of “Team Europe” – the EU and its Member States – actions in The Philippines.
