British Chamber of Commerce Philippines Executive Director and Trustee Chris Nelson participated in an online forum: Davao Investment Conference 2021 (Davao Icon 2021), with the theme “Strong Today, Stronger Tomorrow”. The forum was organized showcasing Davao as a promising destination for investments across multiple industries.
The Chamber is a supporter of the government’s investment promotion activities within the country; it has successfully held a Trade Mission way back in 2017 inviting UK companies to consider the Davao region. Nelson said the Chamber wishes to lead more Trade Missions in the region to continue bringing UK companies.
During the forum, Nelson said enacting more investment-friendly reforms would provide a great advantage for the Philippines to attract more foreign direct investments. He further added, the Philippines has strong economic foundations to address the crisis and therefore immediate approval of these economic measures would be beneficial.
Promoting these economic reforms in the UK would be a priority for the Chamber as it sees the potential of the Philippines becoming a gateway to Southeast Asia.
“We have strong connections with the British Chambers of Commerce across the entire UK and we will [continue] highlight the advantages of Davao and the Philippines,” Nelson said.
Accenture, Pru Life UK, HSBC, Mott Macdonald, Seagard, YLF are among the notable British companies present in Davao.
