Cardinal Santos Medical Center (CSMC) was recently granted the Gold Award for Branding and Marketing Campaign at the annual Asian Hospital Management Awards (AHMA), a prestigious awards ceremony where they recognize the best projects and innovations of hospitals across the Asia Pacific. It was held on September 14 and livestreamed via Hospital Management Asia’s event website.
The award was presented to CSMC by Dr. Jose Rene de Grano, President of the Private Hospitals Association of the Philippines, as recognition of the success of their ongoing Webicon program. Receiving the award on behalf of the institution was CEO and President of CSMC, Mr. Raul Pagdanganan, who gave his appreciation and thanks for the honor.
“Our webicons are the result of our hospital’s desire to educate and promote health literacy among Filipinos,” Pagdanganan said in a video message. “This award is an affirmation that we are taking steps in the right direction.”
At the onset of the pandemic, Filipinos avoided going to the clinics and hospitals out of fear that they may contract the COVID-19 virus. Because of this, much needed diagnostic procedures and life-saving services were delayed, posing great risks to the Filipino individual’s health and well-being.
Thus, CSMC established their Webicon program in January 2021. A hybrid between a webinar and a convention, the aim of the program was to provide the right medical information from trusted sources to the non-medical audience.
Medical topics relevant to Filipinos were discussed by health experts and professionals during these sessions, from cardiovascular diseases, minimally-invasive surgeries, and rehabilitation services for movement-related pain, to pandemic resiliency, herd immunity, and vaccination advocacy.
CSMC also engaged with media partners in order to reach a wider audience and further promote their goal of health literacy and education in the community.
The initiative garnered outstanding results, resulting in the AHMA award.
