DTI concludes enhanced e-commerce skills for MSMEs

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), through the E-Commerce Division, has recently concluded the CTRL+BIZ Reboot Now! Regional Zoom Shows – a series of webinars conducted across different regions wherein local entrepreneurs learned different E-Commerce skills straight from the E-Commerce market leaders. 

The webinar series, which ran from 29 June – 23 September 2021, also introduced the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to different platforms such as e-marketplaces, digital wallets and logistics services to give them a wholistic learning during the three-day sessions.  

Through the support of the DTI Regional Offices, the E-Commerce Division was able to travel virtually across the 16 regions of the Philippines and educate 3,830 participants from various walks of life about marketplace platforms, digital payment solutions, and logistics service providers they can onboard with, as they transition from traditional brick and mortar stores to digital market players.  

The Assistant Secretary and E-Commerce Lead, Mary Jean Pacheco further highlighted the opportunities the program offers.   

Through this project din po, we learned more about the profile ng ating mga participants. From the registrations, we see that most of them ay nasa Level 1 pa lamang sa Level of Digitalization. Sila po yung mga gumagamit lamang ng basic tools for online business. Mas lalo kaming na-inspire to help you to reach Level 3, dito yung level na gumagamit na ng iba’t ibang advanced tools tulad ng analytics,” she said.  

The Regional Zoom Shows was done in partnership with the following e-commerce partners: Amazon, Shopee, Lazada, Zilingo, Zalora, foodpanda, Unionbank GlobalLinker, Pick.A.Roo, Facebook, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, Visa, GCash, PayMaya, UBX, Robinsons Bank, Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation, Google Philippines, Lalamove, FedEx, QuadX, and Grab. 

From the 3,830 participants, 2,836 of them expressed their intent to be endorsed to the said platforms. This event is also in consonance with the Agenda 14 of the E-Commerce Philippines 2022 Roadmap which aims to “implement a cohesive full-scale MSME digitalization program among government agencies nationwide.”
