September is all about celebration for the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines, as it commemorates togetherness, artistry, and beauty through events that would allow you to understand more how Koreans give precedence to such values.

As the pandemic continues, so will the strengthening of the friendship and unity between the Philippines and Korea. Returning again this 2021 via an online event is the Philippines-Korea Cultural Exchange Festival!

Organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines together with the United Korean Community Association (UKCA) and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), ‘WE STAND TOGETHER’ Online Concert, will be happening this September 25, 2021 (Sat) at 3PM PHT. The event would feature performances from Filipino and Korean artists and can be streamed for free via Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines Facebook and YouTube pages, which would also be streamed at the UKCA and NCCA Facebook Pages.

Apart from commemorating the years of strong ties between the two countries, the 2021 PhilKor Festival also seeks to highlight the undeniable Filipino and Korean talent. The Online Talent Competition segment of the festival is divided into Voice and Dance categories. Filipino participants (solo or group) may enter the voice competition by performing a Korean song, while Korean participants (solo and group) may join the voice category by singing a Filipino song. For the dance category, Filipino and Korean participants (solo or group) may perform any Korean pop, traditional, or cultural song.

Submission of entries is until September 11, 2021, after which a voting period shall commence, from September 13 to 17.  The Grand Winner in the Online Talent Competition will be taking home P50,000 in cash. While the Vocal Category and Dance Category winners will be receiving P30,000 each. Winners will be announced at the Online Concert proper.

Apart from the PhilKor Festival, September is also a truly memorable day because of Chuseok or Korean Thanksgiving Day, which will happen on September 21, 2021. Considered as the biggest holiday in Korea that gathers families together for various celebrations and traditional activities. This month’s Traditional Thursday by KCC would center on learning those, as well as, other ancestral ceremonial traditions and the story behind the well-loved Chuseok.

Meanwhile, get ready to dive deep into Korea’s contribution in the arts for KCC has prepared a special screening featuring Modern and Contemporary Art by the MMCA all Sundays of September via KCC social media.

K-Beauty is one aspect of Hallyu Wave that has also been embraced by many Filipinos. This time, KCC, through the 5th episode of its online shorter view series “K-Stans: Along With K-Culture” will be featuring experts in beauty and skincare to discuss how the Korean wave has tapped and reigned supreme in that industry. Catch the 5th episode this September 10 on KCC’s Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube channel.

As the third quarter of 2021 draws to a close, KCC will continue to push its boundaries in order to provide the best events and activities for Filipino K-Culture enthusiasts at home!
