Mineski Global is integrating gamification in the workplace by making every task rewarding and gamifying physical spaces. These efforts have been in effect since the pandemic started, and transitioning to a work from home set-up even opened an opportunity to revamp the workplace.

Gamification in the workplace is pretty uncommon, but it actually makes every day work more enjoyable for employees. By infusing challenges and tasks, it provides a new strategy to gauge employee performance and foster desired behaviors.

“Our mission is to unleash the gamer in everyone, placing the gamers at the heart of value creation for the industry and providing new ways to engage people, including our employees. There’s a big opportunity to bring this mission to life by introducing gamification in our workplace,” explains Mineski Global Chief Executive Officer Ronald Robins.

Mineski recently launched The Great Mineski Adventure among its employees wherein they get points for every action that they take, such as referring a friend to be part of the team, making one’s broadcast of top quality, being a brand ambassador and sharing company news on social media, completing required reading materials, and finding a mentor.

The points earned can be redeemed in exchange for a wide range of rewards from beverages, game tokens, to other rewards from partner brands. These rewards can then be redeemed through an app.

“At Mineski, we aim to further engage our employees by gamifying our work environment. We do this by turning daily tasks into rewarding activities. We also ensure that they stay productive, collaborative, and motivated to continuously improve while still staying true to our core values and delivering excellence,” says Maria Ana Koltoff, HR Manager of Mineski Global.

In a workplace that integrates gamification in its culture and ways of working, the physical environment also plays an important role in fostering desired behaviors.

Mineski has built an amphitheater in its office, with tiered seating and open space serving a variety of uses, including town halls, and large group training. The company also revamped its pantry and dining areas to foster a laid-back, collegiate, and collaborative vibe.

The dining area is composed of several lounge sets and long, high tables where employees can interact and discuss the latest projects over a good meal. Meanwhile, the office pantry also features cocktail tables that employees can use for a quick powwow over coffee.

“We’ve reimagined the open-plan office space to create more spaces for discussion, collaboration, and even competition. These spaces are intended for our teams to get more connected and creative, and we want to make sure that our office spaces allow for desired behaviors to be manifested,” says Robins.

Mineski is known for its original esports leagues, platforms, and content alongside nationwide tours and events. It has also partnered with colleges and universities throughout the Philippines to bring esports at the grassroots level and promote responsible gaming among young Filipinos.

“Everything that we do is driven by our pioneering spirit. In the same manner that we are constantly innovating for brands to connect with younger audiences, we’re also looking for more ways to keep our young and talented workforce engaged and driven to produce their best in everything that they do,” shares Robins.
