Hitting two birds with one stone, Chevron Philippines Inc. (CPI), marketer of Caltex brand of fuels and lubricants, held #StitchMovement, a virtual event aimed at upskilling individuals and supporting community livelihood through sewing. #StitchMovement was part of the Chevron Volunteer Week 2020, which focused on health and safety, and livelihood development.
In a workshop led by Project Support for Orphans and Widows (Project SOW), Caltex Makati Credit Cooperative (CMCC) volunteers handcrafted their own 3-layer face mask with filter pocket. The workshop highlighted the importance of wearing face masks to keep one’s own safety and those nearby.
As part of #StitchMovement, Chevron also purchased 200 face masks sewn by Project SOW mothers to support their means of living.
Project SOW is a community-based initiative under Ina ng Lupang Pangako Parish that provides rehabilitation and livelihood programs for families of extrajudicial killing victims in the Lupang Pangako community in Payatas, Quezon City.
