With the Philippines holding the longest Christmas celebration, there is no stopping celebrating the Yuletide season even in the midst of the pandemic, as Christmas by tradition is celebrated in the country with family, loved ones, and friends.
For this reason, Sheraton Manila Bay marked the start of the yuletide season with a virtual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony together with Marriott properties in the Philippines last November 5, 2020.
Sheraton Manila Bay’s ceremonial tree lighting event was graced by Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso and Manila City Vice Mayor Dr. Honey Lacuna-Pangan, and led by hotel General Manager, Richard Masselin. The event was simultaneously held with the Christmas lighting activities of other Marriott properties including Manila Marriott Hotel, Sheraton Manila Hotel, Clark Marriott Hotel, and Courtyard by Marriott Iloilo, and was live-streamed via Facebook.
The Community Choir, the hotel’s singing ambassadors, serenaded the attending associates with classic Christmas Carols while the hotel’s culinary team prepared a festive buffet feast complete from a ham carving station to holiday-inspired desserts. Inspired by this year’s theme “Welcome Home for Christmas”, Sheraton Manila Bay’s 12-feet tall Mabuhay Jeepney symbolizes the warmth of home and the promise of travel.
The Sheraton Manila Bay “Mabuhay Jeepney” features vintage-designed luggage atop the jeep while on the front seat is a volunteer Frontliner— a subtle tribute to our modern-day heroes. A myriad of bronze, white, green, red, and gold embellishments don the lobby credenzas while the gingerbread house, styled in a similar fashion, was filled with holiday hampers and homemade goodies.
In keeping with the spirit of giving back to the Community, Sheraton Manila Bay launched the Cards of Care. Each pack includes 12pcs Christmas Cards with a scannable Spotify Christmas playlist and reusable packaging available for Php 200 net per pack. The proceeds from the sale of Cards of Care will be donated to Aurora Quezon Elementary School and Charity Fund for the benefit of the children of Barangay 699. Accepting the hotel’s Pledge of Commitment to donate 500pcs education materials was Barangay 699 Chairman Edwin “Amo” Chan.
