The world as we know it has changed because of an unparalleled health crisis. Though this poses a lot of challenges to our way of life, one aspect remains as essential as ever: the pursuit of higher education.
Unwavering in its campaign to champion quality education, the EU Delegation to the Philippines will be hosting the first-ever virtual European Higher Education Fair (EHEF) on 2-3 October 2020, 2-8 PM.
With the theme “Study in Europe: The Future is EUrs,” EHEF 2020 is rising to the challenge of redefining quality education and finding ways to make EU higher education accessible to more Filipino students. Through the EHEF, the EU is opening its doors for a sustainable partnership with local universities and higher education institutions.

As a center of excellence in higher education, the EU aims to share best practices and approaches from its many outstanding universities and European higher education institutions (EHEIs) to their Philippine counterparts (PHEIs).
This partnership can lead to enhanced student and faculty mobility, research collaboration, joint scientific activities, curricular enhancement, and policy formulation.
Opportunities for scholarship grants like Erasmus+, Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions, and Jean Monnet are also open for students and educators alike.
Aside from country presentations and live chats with EHEI representatives, alumni, and scholars, this year’s all-online fair will feature structured webinars with topics based on areas of specialization per region.
Local officials and educators will have the chance to request virtual meeting rooms with their EU counterparts to discuss potential linkages, partnerships, and collaborations. Students will have a chance to explore opportunities for distance learning, with many EHEIs offering post-graduate degrees through distance education programmes.
“The EHEF is the best platform to connect with top education institutions in the EU and extend your network,” said Mr. Thomas Wiersing, Chargé d’Affaires ai of the EU Delegation to the Philippines.
As EHEF 2020 embraces the digital platform as the “new normal,” it also goes regional.
Regional partner institutions Ateneo de Manila University (Metro Manila), Wesleyan University (Luzon), Silliman University (Visayas), and Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan (Mindanao) will host clustered presentations for their students and other interested parties in their respective regions.
A virtual networking event will also take place on 2 October at 7:30PM.
EHEF 2020 is organized by the Delegation of the European Union to the Philippines, together with EU Member States’ Embassies in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), and supported by media partners Business Mirror – Envoys & Expats, Business World Spark Up, Gadgets Magazine, Roots & Wings Online, Sub Selfie, The Philippine Business and News, and When in Manila.
