Vice President Leni Robredo firms up a memorandum of agreement with Coca-Cola Foundation and SPARK! Philippines towards Angat Buhay Workshop for Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs (AB WAWE)-Luzon

Knowing the need to provide livelihood opportunities in the midst of economic slowdown due to pandemic, 30 women entrepreneurs from different parts of Luzon took part in the Workshop for Aspiring Women Entrepreneurs, an initiative organized by the Office of the Vice-President through its flagship poverty alleviation program Angat Buhay, Coca Cola Foundation, and SPARK! Philippines, a non-profit organization that works towards women’s economic empowerment.
The participants who came from different parts of Luzon are as follows. Six from the National Capital Region, 1 from Region I, 11 from Region III, 9 from Region IV-A, and 3 from Region V, were selected through an online call for participants on SPARK!’s Facebook page early this year and coordination with various local communities to guarantee diversity and inclusiveness.
Originally a face to face workshop which was done in its previous legs ie. Mindanao (2018) and Visayas (2019), the 11-module program will now be delivered through online and offline means in order to ensure everyone’s safety in the time of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“SPARK! and its partners are committed to capacitating women entrepreneurs all over the country through sustainable programs in order to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills, especially during a pandemic.”, Imelda Nicolas, SPARK! President, said.
As the workshop aims to build the fundamental capacities of women in entrepreneurship such as business modeling, marketing, pricing, and registration, they will be exposed to lessons about sustainability and readiness to cope with different causes of crises that can affect their business operations such as the current economic situation. Aside from the learnings, the program awards the women with 2 grants: a pre-training seed capital as a preparation to establish or reignite their micro and small enterprises and a graduation grant that serves as a capital infusion.
