This weekend Instituto Cervantes invites to enjoy for FREE another Spanish memorable film:

LA BUENA ESTRELLA (Lucky Star). Directed by Ricardo Franco in 1997, this intense drama received five Goya Awards –Best Film, Best Director, and Best Screenplay among them. It revolves around the toxic relationship between a woman and two opposite men.

LA BUENA ESTRELLA stands out for the superb interpretation of the three leads: Antonio Resines, Jordi Mollá and Maribel Verdú. Resines won for his rendition of a kind man the Goya Award as best actor over Jordi Mollá, also nominated. The female role of the triangle is played by Maribel Verdú, a very popular Spanish actress known internationally for the films Amantes (Vicente Aranda, 1991), Y tu mamá también (Alfonso Cuarón, 2001), and Pan’s Labyrinth (Guillermo del Toro, 2006). La Buena Estrella represents Verdú’s artistic culmen, and she was nominated for her role in this film as a leading actress in the Goya Awards. Maribel Verdú visited Manila in 2015, to grace the inauguration of PELíCULA, the Spanish Film Festival.
