Proving that Filipino’s innovation would provide solutions to some global problems, a group of visionary information technology (IT) experts has developed a mobile application for a cashless, contact-less, and card-less transaction between drivers and passengers in the public transport sector that will enhance social distancing amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jaydee Chua-Gungon, the Chief Operating Officer of KOMUTR, revealed that their group developed a mobile application-based automatic fare collection system for public utility vehicles.
“In this time of COVID-19 pandemic where social distancing is a must and contactless transaction is empirical and the safest, our KOMUTR app is very fitting and we think it will answer the worries especially in the fare collections for the public transport sector. The KOMUTR app, we believe, is also part of the solution to the present crisis,” Chua-Gungon said in a statement.
KOMUTR is a two-in-one mobile application that simplifies commuting experience.
It is mainly an automatic fare collection system application that can be used by public utility vehicles such as jeepneys, FX, UV express vans, and buses.
With the advent KOMUTR app, it will certainly contribute to the demand for modernized fare collections by removing the on-hand cash payment in PUVs, lessening passenger to driver interference and physical contact, and scrapping of additional expenses by using already available mobile phones.
Chua-Gungon said that through the KOMUTR app, commuters can book their travels by using the QR code to contact UV express terminals for seat reservations.
“With the KOMUTR app, we really make sure that the convenience and accuracy of paying the drivers will prevent unnecessary misunderstanding between the drivers and passengers, especially on the change. The app is user-friendly, free downloeadable from Google app store. Those who intend to use this can register after downloading the app and loadable in the stores,” explained by KOMUTR CEO.
“KOMUTR app is a product of our desire to help the government in the fight against the virus. We, in KOMUTR.PH believe that all of us should cooperate with the authorities by practicing health safety protocols and following the regulations at all times because at the end of the day, what we are protecting is our very own lives and the lives of our loved ones,” Chua-Gungon further noted.
