Czech ambassador promotes NCH patients’ ‘Art for a Cause’

Pediatric cancer patients of the National Children’s Hospital (NCH) in Quezon City who mounted an exhibit of their paintings at an art gallery in Makati City have found a champion of their works in Czech Ambassador to the Philippines Jana Sediva.

Gracing the launching of the “Art for a Cause” last January 13 at Paseo Art Gallery, 3rd Level Glorietta 4, Ayala Center, Sediva made a strong call for patron of the arts to visit the exhibit and purchase some of the artworks.

The exhibit was opened to the public last January 19 and will run until February 4.

In her speech at the preview, the Czech ambassador said she was impressed by the “lovely and colorful” paintings done by young cancer patients.

She said the children merited admiration for expressing their God-given talents amidst their own pain and various health challenges.

She also commended the National Children’s Hospital for its noble endeavor, which reflects the beautiful side of young patients dealing with cancer yet brimming with hope and creativity.

Home Credit Chief Financial Officer and Rotarian Zdenek Jankovsky who also supported this noble project under Rotary of Manila said, “As Rotarian, he and his fellow Rotarians have been supporting these children in various forms.”

He added, “We want to make sure that as Rotarians, we are there to give the support to those who are in need. Like these children, we are here to support the exhibit and extend some financial help,” the CFO of Home Credit added.

For his part, gallery owner Bobby Abastillas said it was his honor to house and present the paintings created by the children, aged 3 to 15.

“They are treasures to possess,” Abastillas told THEPHILBIZNEWS.

“We want the paintings of these children to be showcased. They are beautiful and it is amazing to note that while these children who have different kinds of Leukemia and Lymphoma were able to create truly wonderful paintings,” he added.

He said all the proceeds of the event will go the kids.
