The Philippine Board of Investments (BOI) and the Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited signed on Monday, June 17, 2019, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for cooperation and investments promotion at the Dusit Thani Manila in Makati City.

DTI Undersecretary and BOI Managing Head Ceferino S. Rodolfo and Bangkok Bank EVP and Co-Head for International Banking Nutthaporn Luangsuwan led the signing of the MOU, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership in the finance and business sector between the Philippines and Thailand.

Joining the signing ceremony were Ms. Angelica Cayas, director of BOI’s International Investments Promotion Service, and Ms. Nattika Kanpawong, vice president and branch manager of Bangkok Bank Manila Branch.

His Excellency Thailand Ambassador to the Philippines Vasin Ruangprateepsaeng witnessed the ceremony, along with other Thai diplomats, investors from private companies, officers of Bangkok Bank, and representatives of the BOI.

Amb. Ruangprateepsaeng told THEPHILBIZNEWS that the relationship between Thailand and the Philippines remains strong and that he is confident that the MOU signing will boost mutual benefits and deepen the partnership between the two countries.

“We will continue to be strong as both countries will support each other in terms of investment, agricultural programs and also trading,” he said.

Meanwhile, Usec. Rodolfo told the THEPHILBIZNEWS that Thailand has been silently investing in the Philippines for so long a time and that with this MOU, a wider two-way street has been paved for investment seminars or missions, business matching activities, negotiations and the signing of an individual project agreement.

He said the MOU signing also strengthens the economic and industrial linkages between investors and corporations from both the Philippines and Thailand. It is a testament to the Philippine government’s resolve to be ready to assist Thai counterparts on industry information, investment projects of interests, and investments promotion programs.
