The Embassy of India in Manila is celebrating the commencement of 70 years of diplomatic relations between India and the Philippines which began in November 1949.
As a part of the celebration, the Embassy is organizing an Indian Food Festival in collaboration with Mercato Centrale, Filipino Indian Commerce and Welfare Society and Royal Indian Curry House.
In this food festival, visitors can expect to satisfy their adventurous palates as various cuisines of India is one of the world’s most diverse cuisines, characterized by its sophisticated and subtle use of the many spices, vegetables, grains and fruits grown across India.
What is also exciting is that each geographical region will brandish their wide assortment of dishes and cooking techniques reflecting the varied demographics of the ethnically diverse Indian subcontinent. The Indian cuisine has been known and appreciated worldwide including the Philippines.
The Indian Food Festival will not only be a festivity of food but a celebration of India’s culture reflected in the dishes that would be available in the said event. The Filipinos have learned to embrace these dishes and have been available in many restaurants in the metro. Filipinos love to eat and it has been known to be a bonding activity among families and friends.
This event is expected to gather prominent members of the diplomatic community, representatives from the Philippine government, members of the Indian community and hundreds of Filipinos from various cities in Metro Manila. There will be other activities like cooking demo of famous Indian chefs from ITDC (India Tourism Development Cooperation) who will be coming from India, cultural performances and more to entice the audience. Other concessionaires including Indian travel agencies, Indian retailers and artisans will also participate in the event.
