In the midst of the Travel Advisory released by the United States Homeland Security to warn the US citizens coming to the Philippines that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) does not maintain and carry out effective aviation security measures, the Department of Tourism (DOT) will embark on aggressive marketing efforts to promote the Philippines abroad.
According to Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat, the need to step up DOT’s marketing and promotions campaign to target key markets around the globe would assure them that the Philippines is not just a safe destination but also an enjoyable place too.”
With their earmarked budget of P250-million brand campaign using “It’s More Fun in the Philippines” slogan, the DOT Chief said that they would be able to bring in more visitors not only from the US but also from other countries.
The DOT is set to join in the Salon Dela Plonge in Paris and Boot Show in Düsseldorf, two of the biggest dive events in Europe. They will also attend the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) Tourism Forum in Vietnam, which is the region’s biggest and most prestigious gathering of tourism ministers and travel trade executives.
“We will also be organizing a number of familiarization tours for foreign travel agents and media partners for them to see first hand that it is business as usual in the Philippines,” she pointed out.
With the Christmas holiday has already ended, summer will be another opportunity for the Philippines to entice more tourists to the country and let them experience that it is really more fun in the Philippines.
