Following the bombing in Basilan last Tuesday, the Philippine National Police urges the public to remain vigilant.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar advices the public to report suspicious activities even if there is no imminent threat. Metro Manila is on heightened alert due to the bombing that killed eleven persons and critically injured five others when a passenger van exploded 15 meters away from a checkpoint in Lamitan City.
The PNP is in close coordination with other government agencies and continuously monitoring the situation. Already, the Department of Transportation has implemented strict security protocols in the airports, seaports and railways and road terminals.
The public is requested for more cooperation, understanding and patience in the stricter security measure being implemented now for their own safety.
