TPLEX final section opens, shortens trip to Baguio from Metro Manila

Finally, going to Baguio City and other destinations in Northern Luzon will significantly lessen from Metro Manila as the last section of the 89.21-km Tarlac Pangasinan La Union Expressway (TPLEX) that covers Pozzorubio, Pangasinan to Rosario, La Union was formally opened yesterday by San Miguel Corporation and the Department of Public Works and Highways.

No less than, SMC President and Chief Operating Officer Ramon Ang and Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea graced the opening and delivered their messages during the launch.

The National Task Force Against COVID19 Deputy Chief Implementer Sec. Vince Dizon delivered a message on behalf of DPWH Sec. Mark Villar. Also witnessing the event was the Department of Finance Sec. Carlos Dominguez III, Department of Transportation Sec. Arthur Tugade and Department of Budget and Management Acting Sec. Wendel Avisado.

With the opening of the final 11-kilometer segment of the TPLEX, it is expected to further reduce travel time from Tarlac to Rosario to just one hour from three-and-a-half hours, and Metro Manila-to-Baguio from six hours to just three-and-a-half hours.

The Private Infra Dev Corp. (PIDC), a subsidiary under San Miguel Corporation (SMC), holds the concession for the 89.3-km, of the four-lane TLPEX will ease up the traffic and improve interconnectivity between the major north Luzon destinations of Baguio, La Union, and Ilocos.
