The British Chamber offers a deep dive into the evolving landscape of the Philippine supply chain and logistical capacities to accommodate trade. The events would be headlined by key industry figures: Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio of Bureau of Customs, Assistant Commissioner Atty. Jethro M. Sabariaga, of Large Taxpayers Service at the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) and Executive Director Ma. Corazon Halili-Dichosa of Industry Development Services of Board of Investments–with The Philippine Business and News as one of its media partners.

In the 2023, World Bank Logistics Performance Index (LPI), the Philippines secured the 43rd spot out of 139 countries, 17 places above its standing in 2018. The British Chamber emphasized that the Philippines’ recent improvement in its Logistics Performance Index (LPI) reflects advancements in logistics infrastructure–positioning the country for significant economic growth and enhanced trade efficiency.

The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines welcomes and celebrates the recent release of the World Bank report which puts the Philippines on the 43rd spot out of 139 countries in terms of Logistics Performance Index (LPI). Based on the report, the Philippines has moved up 17 places. In an increasingly globalized world, seamless and sustainable trade is essential. The Chamber further supports measures that will aid logistical efficiency as well as customs and trade facilitation.

Furthermore, this can be further improved by timely implementing the 10-year Maritime Industry Development Plan (MIDP); fully operationalizing the National Single Window (NSW) and integrating it with the ASEAN Single Window (ASW); upholding the International Commerce Terminology (INCOTerms); and officially clarifying the lead government agency responsible for matter relating to shipping rates and port congestion.
