Cavite took the spotlight in the recently concluded Biyaheng South Experiential Tour 2025, featuring top destinations made more accessible through Metro Pacific Tollway Corporation’s (MPTC) expressways—Cavitex and Calax.

Successfully hosted by MPT South, a subsidiary of MPTC, in partnership with the Department of Tourism Region IV-A (DOT IV-A) and the Cavite Tourism Office, the tour highlighted the province’s rich blend of history, culture, and culinary delights.

Co-presented by mWell (by Metro Pacific Health Tech Corporation), the tour also highlighted wellness on the road, with participants wearing mWell watches to track their health and activity throughout the journey.

The Ka-Biyaheros, composed of influencers and media partners, enjoyed a seamless and immersive two-day experience aboard stylish and comfortable Chery Tiggo vehicles such as the Chery Tiggo Cross HEV, Chery Tiggo Grand Tour, and the newly introduced all-new Chery Tiggo REV LE, thanks to Chery Philippines, the tour’s official mobility partner.

Every stop—from museum and scenic views to must-visit local dining spots—was made smoother and more memorable by the reliable ride. The event was also made possible through the support of Quest Hotels, Profriends, Coffee Builders, and SkyRanch Tagaytay.

The adventure began with a scenic drive along the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (Calax), giving participants a firsthand look at how the expressway makes Southern Luzon more accessible. The first destination was Coffee Builders in Silang for breakfast, a café known for its artisan brews and cozy atmosphere. Participants indulged in some of the house favorites, which are beef salpicao, salted egg chicken, and fish and chips, paired with their signature drinks.

How to get to Coffee Builders: From Manila, take Cavitex. From Kawit, go to Calax Silang Aguinaldo Interchange, then exit at Silang East Interchange. Coffee Builders is just a few minutes away.

Following the hearty breakfast, the participants then had the opportunity to have a special look at CALAX Governor’s Drive Interchange in General Trias, Cavite, which is set to open this 2025. This new segment will expand CALAX’s operating section all the way to General Trias, providing motorists with faster, more convenient routes, easing congestion on Cavite’s major roads.

Next on the list was the Geronimo Berenguer De Los Reyes (GBR) Museum in General Trias, a cultural gem dedicated to preserving and promoting the country’s rich history and heritage. Upon entering, the group was immediately immersed in a powerful display of the Cavite Mutiny of 1872, one of the most relevant events in Philippine history.

Among the museum’s exhibits, the World Aviation History Exhibit stood out, featuring remarkable replicas such as the Wright Brothers’ “Flying Machine” and NASA’s Lunar Roving Vehicle.

Afterward, Ka-Biyaheros enjoyed lunch at Cabezera Ridge View Restaurant in Tagaytay City, a dining spot that pairs Cavite flavors with sweeping views of Taal Lake.

Fun and excitement awaited the Ka-Biyaheros at Sky Ranch Tagaytay, one of the city’s most popular leisure destinations. Participants enjoyed a mix of thrilling rides and family-friendly attractions like the Sky-Eye Ferris Wheel, Drop Tower, and Cartoonville, Sky Ranch’s newest attraction. The day closed with a comforting hotpot dinner at Nabe Hotspot, a local favorite for its warm flavors and cozy vibe.

How to get to Sky Ranch Tagaytay: From Manila, take Cavitex. From Kawit, go to Carsadong Bago going to Aguinaldo Highway. Then turn right, going to Tagaytay-Nasugbu Highway. Sky Ranch Tagaytay is just a short drive from there.

The participants then went to check in at Quest Hotel, a top choice for travelers seeking accessibility and convenience in the city. The group settled into modern, cozy rooms before indulging in treats at Baker J Café, the hotel’s signature French-inspired bakery known for its pastries and artisanal breads, before unwinding in the outdoor pool.
By Marinel Peroy

Not many people know that more than just the favorite destination of Japanese tourists in the early ’70s till the late ’80s, Taal Vista Lodge was the home of the first Jollibee in Tagaytay City which can only be found inside their property.

Nestled in the hilly and mountainous terrain of Tagaytay City, Taal Vista Hotel has been a timeless haven for those who want to recharge or take a journey to solitude and beat the humdrum or get away from the hustle and bustle of the metropolis. Boasting its fresh air, all-year-round cool breeze, and of course, the clean and green vicinity of the property, this is what makes Taal Vista Hotel Tagaytay’s crown jewel.

Where History Meets Hospitality

On October 7, 1939, it first opened its doors to the public. Now, Taal Vista has evolved into Tagaytay’s premier hotel, offering not only a rejuvenating ambiance and cool breeze – but also a glimpse into the past and a promise of memorable experiences.

One of the hotel’s notable moments in history is the cabinet meeting held by then Pres. Manuel Quezon within its walls. This meeting, which took place during the early years of Taal Vista, reflects the hotel’s significance as a place of importance and prestige as Tagaytay’s tourist destination.

In February 1956, Taal Vista Lodge expanded; offering cottages, cabanas, a tea lounge, a children’s playground, horseback riding, dining rooms, and even sports facilities. Many families stayed at Taal Vista to enjoy the cool breeze and savor the breathtaking view of Taal Lake and its iconic volcano.

As the years went by, Taal Vista continued to adapt to the evolving needs of its guests – be it for staycations, business events, and other joyous celebrations. It swiftly transitioned into a 3-star hotel, marking a new milestone in its journey.

A Grand Renovation and Expansion

In 1999, Taal Vista closed its doors for a major reconstruction project. Fast forward to March 27, 2003, the hotel reopened its doors to the public and rebranded as Taal Vista Hotel. The reopening marked a new chapter in its history—forging its timeless beauty in Tagaytay’s hospitality industry while bringing its contemporary amenities, services, and grandeur.

In 2008, Taal Vista Hotel unveiled its “Lake Wing”, a testament to its dedication to providing top-notch accommodation to guests. This area brought over 130 guest rooms and suites, conference facilities, and amenities tailored for business functions and momentous celebrations. This expansion is the current symbol of the hotel’s evolution and commitment to exceeding guests’ and travelers’ expectations.

A Historical Hotel in the Philippines that is worth visiting

Taal Vista Hotel is more than just a vicinity for a luxurious retreat; it is a living testament to the rich history and ever-evolving nature of Tagaytay. With its excellence and multi-awarded leisure & services, the hotel remains a go-to destination for travelers and locals alike.

Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (“MPTC”), the tollways infrastructure unit of Metro Pacific Investments Corporation and San Miguel Corporation (“SMC”) today announced the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (“MOA”) to design, build and operate the 87.96-kilometer Cavite-Batangas Expressway (“CBEX”) and Nasugbu-Bauan Expressway (“NBEX”). The project aims to connect MPTC’s Cavite-Laguna Expressway (“CALAX”) to Bauan, Batangas, making travel easier and more convenient for motorists.

The signing ceremony, led by MPTC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan and SMC Chief Executive Officer Ramon S. Ang, along with Chaye Cabal Revilla and SMC SVP, Infrastructure Business Head Lorenzo Formoso III, marks a significant milestone in the development of the P72 billion CBEX and NBEX project.

The MOA signing underscores the commitment of both toll road companies to deliver world-class expressways that will serve the needs of millions of motorists and commuters in the CALABARZON region. Throughout the project, MPTC and SMC will work closely with the Philippine government, local communities, and stakeholders to ensure a sustainable and responsible development that aligns with the country’s infrastructure goals.

“Our shared commitment to nation-building has led us to this historic collaboration. Together, we aim to deliver world-class road networks that will serve as arteries of progress, growth and development for our country and the Filipino people. This collaboration stands as a testament to what we can achieve when we are united in purpose,” SMC President and CEO Ramon S. Ang said.

“Together with SMC, we envisage a future where our CBEX and NBEX can help pave the way for connectivity and economic growth in the CALABARZON region. We look forward to leveraging on our respective strengths for the realization of this vital infrastructure project.” said MPTC Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan

Under the agreement, MPTC and SMC will jointly undertake the construction, operation and maintenance of the 88-kilometer-long toll road projects. This will encompass two vital expressways: one is the 27.06-kilometer CBEX that will establish a crucial link connecting CALAX’ Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange to Nasugbu, Batangas, while the 60.90-kilometer NBEX will provide seamless connectivity from Nasugbu to Bauan, Batangas. The groundbreaking is scheduled for 2024 and CBEX and NBEX are expected to be completed and open to the public in 2027.

The route will traverse the townships of Silang, Amadeo, Tagaytay, Indang, Mendez, and Alfonso in Cavite before crossing into Nasugbu and finally reaching Bauan, Batangas.

In 2018, MPTC presented a proposal for the 50.4-kilometer Cavite-Tagaytay-Batangas Expressway (CTBEX) project to the Department of Public Works and Highways and was granted the original proponent status. Similarly, SMC’s unsolicited proposal for the CBEX and NBEX was approved by the Cavite and Batangas government. Both projects share the common goal of connecting the provinces of Cavite and Batangas through Tagaytay City and MPTC and SMC have come together as partners in this significant venture.

Both MPTC and SMC share a common goal of contributing to the development of road infrastructure and enhancing the transportation sector in the country. Aside from CALAX, MPTC currently holds the concession for several vital expressways, including the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), its C5 Link Segment, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), the Subic-Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), the NLEX Connector Road, and the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu. Whilst SMC holds the concession for crucial toll roads such as the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), Skyway, NAIA Expressway (NAIAX), Star Tollway, Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCX).

The implementation of the transaction is subject to completion of certain conditions, including the execution procurement relevant approvals and execution of definitive agreements.

As the country is heading toward halfway to the holidays, travelers who frequently go to Tagaytay for its cold climate will get there faster as the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX) is set to make a major milestone this 2022.

In the media update sent to THEPHILBIZNEWS, the Cavite-Laguna Expresswayas eyes to open this Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange in the latter part of the year. This will extend CALAX’ operational sections from Mamplasan, Laguna, to Aguinaldo Highway in Silang, Cavite.

Already, the 3.9-kilometer 2×2 lane CALAX subsection reaches 56% of completion. Part of the ongoing works includes drainage and bridge constructions, excavation and roadway earthworks, and installation of fence and coco net.

“The Silang (Aguinaldo) Interchange will help decongest the busiest highway in the province of Cavite — the 41-kilometer Emilio Aguinaldo Highway. Motorists from Manila going to the famous tourist destinations of Silang and Tagaytay, Cavite will surely benefit from this upcoming project as it offers convenience and shorter travel time.,” said Mr. Raul L. Ignacio, President and General Manager of MPCALA Holdings Incorporation (MHI).

Once operational, the Silang Aguinaldo Interchange, aside from the Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Road Interchange, will be a convenient alternative exit of CALAX for motorists coming from Metro Manila going to the country’s second summer capital, Tagaytay City. The interchange is 16 kilometers away from the city proper of Tagaytay via Aguinaldo Highway, and the travel time is around 20 minutes only.

Other interchanges of CALAX namely Open Canal, Governor’s Drive, and Kawit are targeted to be completed by 2023. Currently, CALAX’s operational segment spans 14.24-kilometer with interchanges at Greenfield-Mamplasan, Laguna Technopark, Laguna Boulevard, Santa Rosa-Tagaytay, and Silang East. Upon completion of the entire CALAX project, it will connect to the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX) in Kawit, Cavite.

CALAX is a 45-kilometer expressway, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) as implementing agency, and with private proponent MPCALA Holdings Inc. (MHI), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road development arm of Metro Pacific Investment Corporation (MPIC).

MPTC is the biggest toll road developer and operator in the Philippines. Aside from CALAX and CAVITEX, MPTC also holds the concession rights for North Luzon Expressway (NLEX), NLEX Connector Road, Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), and Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) in Cebu.

With the easing up of the community quarantine and opening of the economy, many people are already planning for their holiday. However, it would be best to have a hassle-free holiday

The holiday season is just around the corner, and since the country is starting to loosen quarantine guidelines, people can now leisurely travel around the country, provided that they follow specific travel regulations and safety measures.

Tagaytay City, for instance, finally reopened its borders to all visitors but non-residents are required to secure a travel pass to present to authorities before entering the city. Establishments must still follow safety and hygiene guidelines while the maximum occupancy of the Department of Tourism-accredited hotels is only 50 percent. Only one person is allowed per hotel room at a time.

The Aerial view of CitiGlobal Clubhouse in Tagaytay

Top real estate developer CitiGlobal Realty and Development Inc., offers affordable and income-generating investment in properties around the country, as the economy slowly but surely opening the tourism sector will be critical in helping the country’s economy recover from the setbacks created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Hence, the post-COVID plan is empirical and this is the reason why the proactive move of the CitiGlobal would surely help the economy to rebound faster and stronger via long-term plan and income-generating investment.

As Gary To, Managing Director of CitiGlobal said, “We always believed that appreciating the beautiful islands and other locations that our country has to offer will bless us more than we think. The country’s tourism industry has helped the country flourish, and it will do the same in this time of crisis.”

If you are planning a trip soon, what then should you bear in mind to ensure a safe and enjoyable vacation? Here are some reminders, as listed by CitiGlobal:

Who can travel to where you are going?

Always study the locations you aim to study since some cities only entertain local residents while some accommodate neighboring municipalities. Depending on the quarantine guidelines and local safety measurements, travel will remain limited to some areas.

What are the restrictions and requirements for traveling around the country?

Take note of the requirements needed around the area you plan to travel to like in Tagaytay requiring non-residents to have a travel pass before entering the city. Spare some time to gather all the needed valid IDs and get yourself also an updated COVID test results, so you will not have any problems when traveling from city to city.

What are the minimum health standards required by the area?

Regardless of which community quarantine guidelines the city is under, authorities will always impose mandatory wearing of face masks and face shields, and physical distancing regulations in public to refrain the further spreading of the virus. Best keep yourself updated on new health practices keep your health and other people’s health safe.

Lastly, when planning for a trip during these difficult times, this is one old practice that will remain helpful even in the “new normal” –advance booking. Try booking in reliable hotels like CitiGlobal’s Tagaytay Clifton Resort Suites in Tagaytay along with private transportations and if you can do activities in advance to help maintain a sense of safety and security during your trip.

CitiGlobal Realty and Development, Inc. envisions becoming a top real estate developer in the country, effortlessly putting the country’s best tourism locations on the map through their real estate properties. And provide investment opportunities for OFWs to have back in the country and be with their families.

As the robust real estate industry in the country continues to grow, CitiGlobal Realty and Development, Inc also brandishes its flourishing real estate venture in the Philippines that started as a marketing, landholding, and leasing company back in 2003. But given the growing demand for various real estate properties either for investment or a new home for hibernation, it accepted the challenge to become an efficient and lifestyle developer for almost 1 decade now with a proven track record and integrity in the property and real estate development in the country.

With many people looking at the option of living away from the humdrum of the Metropolis and enjoy the countryside’s nature and beauty, the CitiGlobal has a vast property portfolio to offer and deliver quality real estate projects that will revolutionize the Filipino mindset on leisure properties. Among their currently open real estate projects are Tagaytay Fontaine Villas, Tagaytay Clifton Resort Suites in Tagaytay, and Diamond Beach Resorts in Palawan. They also have future projects in line in Quezon City, Cubao, Bataan, Tagaytay, Palawan, Panglao, and Davao.
