The vibrant pulse of Korean pop culture echoed through the halls of the iconic Metropolitan Theater as the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines staged “Everyone’s KPOP: Battle of the Champions,” a high-energy celebration of dance, youth, and cross-cultural creativity.

Held in commemoration of the 77th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the South Korea and the Philippines, the event highlighted the remarkable rise of the Filipino K-pop cover dance community — now regarded as one of the most dynamic in the region.

Inside one of Manila’s most treasured cultural landmarks, the competition became a spectacular showcase of precision, artistry, and stage mastery. Dance groups ALPHA, MERAKI, PARADIGM, and WILDKARD delivered breathtaking performances that demonstrated not only technical excellence but also a deep appreciation of K-pop’s evolving global influence. After an electrifying finale, PARADIGM emerged as Grand Champion, earning top honors for their commanding stage presence, synchronization, and interpretation.

A Musical Highlight

Adding to the excitement was a special performance by Venisse Siy, the Tagalog-singing voice of Mira from the Grammy-awarded hit K-pop Demon Hunters. Among them was Lia Kim, the internationally acclaimed choreographer and co-founder of 1MILLION Dance Studio, widely recognized for shaping contemporary K-pop choreography. Joining her was Gwyn Dorado, who gained international recognition through Korea’s hit singing competition Sing Again 4; she brought heartfelt artistry and cross-cultural insight to the panel and serenaded the audience with her rendition of “Rebirth” by Yoon Jong Shin. Completing the distinguished panel was Ciel Oh, a respected K-pop instructor who leads the K-pop Academy program of the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines and mentors aspiring Filipino performers.

A Message from Korea’s First Lady

Adding gravitas to the occasion was the special appearance of Her Excellency First Lady Kim Hea Kyung, who praised the passion of Filipino youth and emphasized the power of music and dance in strengthening people-to-people ties.

Cagay-anons are set for a cultural feast as the 2025 Korea Festival On the Go lights up SM CDO Downtown Premier on September 20–21, delivering the full spectrum of Korean culture straight to Northern Mindanao.

Organized by the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines, the two-day festival continues its mission of strengthening Korea-Philippines cultural ties with an immersive lineup of activities, performances, and showcases that blend tradition and modern K-culture.

Experience Korea Firsthand

Festival goers can try on the elegant hanbok, snap photos with colorful Jinju silk lanterns, and join craft stations for maedeup (Korean knots) and gat (traditional hat) making. An interactive Hangeul booth also gives visitors the chance to learn Korea’s iconic writing system.

Adding more excitement are partner booths: the Korea Tourism Organization–Manila Office (KTO) will spotlight Korea’s must-visit destinations, while the Korea Copyright Protection Agency (KCOPA) will promote responsible fan support. Big brands like Hyundai, LG, and Innisfree will also showcase Korea’s innovations in lifestyle, technology, and beauty.

K-Performances That Inspire

The highlight of the festival, “Everyone’s KPOP Cagayan de Oro,” will see soloists, groups, and dance crews from across Mindanao battle it out onstage with electrifying K-pop performances.

Meanwhile, festival stages will host a dynamic cultural mix: Korea’s Yeobaek will present a fusion of traditional music, the Liceo Folkloric Dance Troupe will bring Philippine heritage to life, and the Korea Taekwondo Association Demonstration Team will wow audiences with power-packed martial arts routines.

More than just a spectacle, the 2025 Korea Festival On the Go offers a chance for Cagay-anons to celebrate friendship, connection, and shared cultural appreciation. This September, CDO transforms into a K-Wave hub you won’t want to miss.

The Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) is giving K-drama fans, creatives, and storytellers a rare chance to meet one of Korea’s most influential content creators — Gwang Jin, the mind behind the global sensation Itaewon Class — through the latest installment of its “Meet the Mentor” series.

Happening from July 4 to 6, 2025, this three-day program brings Gwang Jin to multiple venues in Metro Manila, where he will share his journey — from crafting the original webtoon to seeing it adapted into the blockbuster K-drama that resonated with audiences worldwide for its themes of resilience, diversity, and fighting for one’s dreams. Specifically, his workshop at The M includes a drawing session, during which he will demonstrate how his story unfolds through the strokes of his pen.

Building on the success of KCC’s ‘Meet the Mentor’ series — which has previously featured webtoon artists, literature authors, film experts, and other cultural figures — this event continues KCC’s commitment to connecting Filipino audiences with Korea’s thriving creative industries.

As the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) in the Philippines ushers in August, we proudly announce a month filled with traditional celebrations!

This August, as we continue to celebrate 75 years of friendship between Korea and the Philippines, we have prepared a series of events reflecting both nations’ rich cultural heritage through sports and family-oriented activities.

On August 9, join us at the BGC Arts Center for an exhilarating display of national sports from both countries. The Globe Auditorium will host “Sticks & Kicks: Phil-Kor National Sports Demonstration,” where top athletes from Korea and the Philippines will showcase their prowess.

From Korea, Kukkiwon, the World Taekwondo Headquarters, will amaze the audience with its powerful and graceful Taekwondo performance, embodying the art, discipline, and spirit of this martial art.

Representing the Philippines, the Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) will demonstrate the precision and skill of Arnis, the Filipino national sport, with a showcase of techniques, moves, and drills.

Adding a special touch to this commemorative event, the audience will be treated to a unique Phil-Kor performance before the sports demonstration begins. NARA, the Korean Cultural Center’s traditional performing team, and the Philippine Baranggay Folk Dance Troupe will captivate with their dynamic and historical performances.

This event is free to the public, but tickets are required. Secure your tickets through bit.ly/KicksandSticksRegistration.

The Forest Music Band, Dung Dda Koong

On August 18, the KCC, in partnership with the Namwon National Gugak Center, presents “The Forest Music Band, Dung Dda Koong,” a delightful children’s play at the Tanghalang Ignacio Gimenez.

This interactive performance is ideal for children, immersing them in the enchanting sounds of four traditional Korean musical instruments: haegeum, gayageum, geomungo, and ajaeng.

The story revolves around six animal friends preparing for “Tiger’s” birthday party, promising an engaging and educational experience for young audiences. The show is ideal for ages 3 and up.

Bring your children and experience the magic of traditional music with the “Forest Music Band”! Seats are free but limited. Guidelines for ticket reservations will be announced soon.

Catch the Spirit of Tradition and Friendship!

Join us this August at the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines to celebrate the vibrant cultures of Korea and the Philippines.

From dynamic sports demonstrations to enchanting musical performances, there’s something for everyone. Don’t miss out on these exciting events! Mark your calendars, secure your tickets, and be part of this cultural celebration!

Get ready to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Korean culture as the Korean Cultural Center in the Philippines (KCC) proudly presents the highly anticipated “K-Culture Next Door: 2024 Korea Festival”! This year, the festival returns bigger and better, spanning two exciting locations: SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on May 4-5 and SM Seaside City Cebu, the Mountain Wing Atrium and Skyhall on June 15-16.

As we continue celebrating 75 years of friendship between Korea and the Philippines, the theme “K-Culture Next Door” symbolizes the close connection between our two nations! Just like neighbors who are a ‘doorbell’ away, Korea and the Philippines influenced and supported each other through cultural exchange and interaction between people throughout the years.

‘Next Door’ Performance

Prepare to be mesmerized as we bring Korea’s top indie rock sensation, Jannabi, to the Manila leg’s opening ceremony happening on May 4.

There’s no denying that spring is one of the most loved seasons in a lovely country with four seasons like Korea.

With this, the Korean Cultural Center (KCC) brings “Spring in Joseon” to Davao City and would give everyone a glimpse and dive into a memorable experience.

This year’s Korea Festival with a theme, “Spring in Joseon”, hosted by the Korean Embassy – Korean Cultural Center, in partnership with SM Lanang Premier, will happen on April 29 and 30 at SM Lanang Premier Fountain Court.

With a wide range of different Korean food and drinks combined with traditional activities, this festival will take you back to the old Korea – as if you are in an episode of Sageuk (Korean historical drama)!

Spring in Joseon marks the new beginning of present-day Korea as it was when Hangeul, the unique Korean characters, was made. From here on, everyone was able to express themselves freely and the Korean literature written in Hangeul also started, giving birth to the world widely loved K-drama and K-pop.

<Neolttwigi>, Encyclopedia of Korean Culture

Get ready for an eventful weekend that will take you on a memorable journey as you experience the rich culture of Korea! There are tons of activity booths that are free for everyone to enjoy. From traditional Korean spring activities, like Beongseonhwa (kind of flower) Nail Dye, down to playing traditional Korean games, Neolttwigi (Korean seesaw), for sure, everyone has something to look forward to!

<Hwajeon>

Not only that the 2-day festival will bring Korea’s tradition and history in your area but there are also aesthetic photo spots that just looks like you’re in a Korean palace. And as your eyes get full from everything the festival has to offer, your stomach won’t be left empty as there are also traditional Korean spring food like Hwajeon (flower pancake) and drinks prepared to enjoy.

<Pungmulnori>, Encyclopedia of Korean Culture

But, that’s not all! What’s a festival without some music, right? Get ready to be entertained by the Korean traditional performance team as they showcase their talents in playing and singing traditional Korean songs called Pungmulnori (percussion ensemble) and Pansori (solo musical storytelling). There will also be a special performance by P-Pop star and breakthrough artist, Mona Gonzales.

Of course, we can’t miss out on our talented Davaoeños as they showcase their skills to this year’s “Everyone’s KPOP: Davao” on the 29th wherein the grand winner will get the chance to perform again on stage on the 30th, capping off the entire festival. This contest also marks the first-ever K-Pop contest in the region hosted by KCC.
