For the Philippines, a country known to have the longest Christmas season in the world, holiday festivities are in full swing. Weaving distinct cultures and continuing the Paskong Pinoy traditions to celebrate the joyous season this December, global technology company Epson is collaborating with the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) for Binurda, CCP’s annual Christmas show and building façade lighting.

As the official Visual Display Partner, Epson lends its high brightness projectors to showcase the rich embroidery heritage in the Philippines and to highlight the cultural traditions interwoven with the Filipino people’s stories. Conceptualized by CCP Production Design and Technical Division, this celebration of Christmas and culture is brought to life by Epson’s state-of-the-art technology. Throughout the holiday season, CCP’s main building façade is transformed into a symbolic pina jusi textile with beautiful callado or the intricate embroidery and needlework with Sampaguita detailing.

“The tone-on-tone design of the CCP holiday decoration provides an understated elegance to the façade during the day, and seamlessly transitions to a dazzling light spectacle at night,” said Ed Bonoan, General Manager of the Epson Philippines Marketing Division. “We at Epson are excited to join in on the Christmas festivities with the CCP. As the official Virtual Display Partner, we are honored to share our visual imaging innovations to light up the CCP facade, spread an appreciation for the beautiful Filipino heritage, and further boost the holiday spirit among audiences.”

Binurda opened its concert and lighting event to the public on December 15, 2022. The façadedecorations will run until January 2023.

Epson announced a new addition to their projector series, the CO-FH02. This Full HD Smart projector is designed to offer seamless usage for consumers and businesses whose activities and operations are conducted in various environments. Providing convenience and flexibility in an all-in-one package, high-quality image presentations can be delivered anywhere and at any time.

High Clarity

Offering a brightness of 3,000 lumens and a Full HD/1080P resolution, the CO-FH02 allows user to carry out clear and vivid presentations. Users can enjoy large, vivid displays to immerse themselves and enjoy the full experience of using a high-quality visual device. This new projector enhances the cinematic experience of streaming movies and other types of entertainment at home, alongside audio visual facilitation of business meetings, presentations, and discussions in and out of the office. Furthermore, educators can utilize the projector to promote visual learning with greater content accessibility.

Hassle-free Portability

Hampered by restrictions on physical meetings brought about by the pandemic, organizations are looking to reduce their physical office space and introduce hotdesking to meet new demands of flexible work. However, common office equipment like Flat Panel Displays in Work-From-Home (WFH) or Small Office Home Office (SOHO) environments are not always the most space-efficient. To address this, the CO-FH02’s portability with its lightweight and compact design enables users to conveniently carry and install the projector in different environments, to project visuals that are integral in facilitating discussions and small conferences outside of the office. The CO-FH02 appeals to not only business users, but also home users due to its versatility, creating an enjoyable experience in entertainment, learning, and large-screen infotainment. In addition, the CO-FH02 comes with a fixed inbuilt lamp that is covered by 2 years’ warranty.

Comprehensive Features

Leveraging the rise of consumer adoption of streaming video services, the CO-FH02 can function as a smart projector as it is bundled with the Android TV™ Dongle that enables streaming and Chromecast built-in™ features. The projector also boasts a powerful sound output of 5W and can operate wirelessly. Altogether, the CO-FH02 is a well-rounded projector that provides users a multitude of visual experiences as its on-demand features are designed to meet all of one’s lifestyle needs, whether educational, cinematic, or for business.

“The CO-FH02 is Epson’s latest all-in-one Full HD Smart Projector which offers great versatility in varied settings for both businesses and consumers,” commented Ed Bonoan, General Manager for Marketing Division at Epson Philippines. “We are confident that the CO-FH02 can address the growing demand for high-quality image projection at work and at home by delivering immersive visual experiences that can adapt smoothly to different use case scenarios and environments.”

The new Epson CO-FH02 projector is now available for sale in the Philippines. Visit epson.com.ph or contact your nearest Epson Authorized Dealer store for more information.

Epson Philippines’ partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines for marine ecosystem restoration has officially kickstarted with a ceremonial launch in Balabac, Palawan. Supported by project stakeholders such as the European Union delegation to the Philippines and local government officials, the project launch highlights the importance of rehabilitating mangrove sites, recognizing their critical role in marine biodiversity and protecting coasts from erosion and storm surges.

Epson, which has previously supported the development of WWF-Philippines’ virtual museum Museo Kalikasan, is now supporting the Mangrove Restoration Project in the municipalities of Balabac and Bataraza, Southern Palawan. As part of the wider European Union-funded Ocean Governance Project—an initiative focused on strengthening habitat resilience through restoration in the Sulu Sulawesi Seascape that covers the Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia—the joint mission in Palawan aims to boost local capacity in taking care of the mangroves, as well as address other critical issues such as plastic waste management. With Epson as a key partner, the Mangrove Restoration Project was able to expand beyond Balabac and into the neighboring municipality of Bataraza. In addition, the growing relationship between Epson Philippines and WWF-Philippines only further drives Epson Philippines’ commitment to support sustainable innovations and initiatives to solve the world’s greatest challenges.

“Corporations have a shared responsibility in sustainable development,” said Eduardo Bonoan, Epson Philippines’ General Manager for Marketing Division, who shared his remarks virtually during the project launch. “As Epson continues its commitment to sustainable innovation and environmental responsibility, we believe in forming critical partnerships with organizations that are aligned with our values—such as WWF-Philippines.”

To further the goals of the Mangrove Restoration Project, WWF-Philippines will continue to work with local government and key stakeholders such as Epson Philippines to establish a ‘Community Learning and Innovation Hub’ that aims to bridge knowledge gaps and strengthen coastal communities’ experience in resource management, thereby helping to build local capacity.

“It is important that we continue to protect and manage Balabac’s valued mangrove forests to boost our efforts in keeping a healthy environment and supporting local livelihoods,” said Balabac Mayor Shuiab J. Astami, who officially launched the project in Balabac Island.

“We are excited to be part of this multi-stakeholder effort that will restore critical mangroves in Balabac, Palawan and improve the way their coastal resources are managed for the long haul. We strongly hope that this project will succeed and serve as an example for many other communities,” said Executive Director of WWF-Philippines, Katherine Custodio.

Moving forward, Epson aims to continue setting a more sustainable example for corporations across the region.

“Working alongside governments, local champions and conservation organizations, we are proud to be part of this public-private partnership that is aligned with our renewed Epson 25 Corporate Vision—which aims to enrich communities and help realize a sustainable society,” concludes Bonoan. ”We hope that this opens up a path for more sustainable partnerships in the future.”

Commitment to a Green Future. Epson Philippines conducts a seminar to discuss how its employees can live a sustainable lifestyle and contribute to a green future.

In recent years, the world has become more aware of the increasing human pressure on the environment with two defining public health threats of the century: the COVID-19 pandemic and climate change.

The pandemic has limited mobility for over two years, displacing established operations and causing several sectors to adopt technology in an unprecedented rate. On one hand, the swift digitization of local industries has created a new space for business growth. On the other, as businesses consume technology in an accelerated rate, there is also a surge in the demand for energy, which may have negative implications on the environment.

Due to the double-edged phenomenon, Epson urges companies to prioritize responsible energy and technology consumption. With its recently concluded sustainability seminar for its employees, Epson walked the talk by encouraging its staff to practice a sustainable lifestyle. The global technology leader discussed the different measures it is taking to further embrace sustainability.

Epson’s leadership discussed the company’s overall commitment to sustainability, key partnerships, and projects, as well as different practices attendees can pledge to incorporate into their individual sustainability journeys. The event also featured Dino Calderon, Project Manager of Education for Sustainable Development of World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines, to further raise employees’ awareness on biodiversity and sustainable development.

Sustainability Pledge. After the seminar, Epson Philippines President and Director Masako Kusama leads the signing of pledge for a sustainable lifestyle using Epson’s interactive projector.

“There is no telling how big an impact we can make if our collective actions zero in on addressing climate change, preserving our environment, and driving economic growth,” said Masako Kusama, President and Director at Epson Philippines. “Epson takes pride in our commitment to advancing towards a more sustainable future, and it is crucial that we learn the different ways—both big and small—in which we can further embrace sustainability,”

“Now more than ever, we must turn the tide, so consumers and businesses start acting on sustainability goals and integrate them in their operations,” said Ed Bonoan, General Manager of Marketing Division at Epson Philippines. “The transition to a low-carbon economy involves the need for businesses to be innovative to secure a sustainable future. As we enter the phase of business recovery during the new normal, it is time for companies to embrace responsible energy and technology consumption—and this change must start with ourselves.”

Looking back on an enriched history in environmental sustainability

For Epson, the culture of respect for the environment is deeply ingrained in its DNA, as it fully commits to a harmonious co-existence with the communities in which it operates.

Throughout its 80 years in operation, Epson has continually been recognized for its efforts in lessening environmental impact. In more recent years, Epson joined the international initiative RE100 and committed to switch to 100% renewable energy at all Epson Group production sites around the world by 2023, with the Philippines achieving this through successfully switching its manufacturing site in Batangas to 100% renewable energy in 2021.

“For decades, we have proved that Epson’s actions, initiatives, and innovations are always driven to action by our commitment to sustainability no matter how ambitious the goals are,” said Bonoan.

Deepening an overall commitment to sustainability

With such an enriched history of environmental responsibility, Epson leads by example and deepens its commitment to sustainability moving forward.

In 2021, Epson introduced Epson 25 Renewed, its revamped corporate vision that pursues the company’s aspirational goal of achieving sustainability and enriching communities. In the renewed vision, Epson aims to connect people, things, and information by leveraging its efficient, compact, and precise digital technologies.

Epson also launched its Environmental Vision 2050 that charts out three key commitments to achieve sustainability and enrich communities: 1) subscribing to all 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals; 2) reducing total emissions by 2030 line with 1.5oC scenario; and 3) becoming carbon-negative and underground resource-free by 2050.

“This global vision guides our business roadmap and goals for the region. In Southeast Asia, we have started on a three-year sustainability plan which focuses on five SDGs which we deem will make the most impact in the region,” stated Bonoan.

Amplifying actions through collaboration

Over the past years, Epson has prioritized partnerships that amplify their sustainability goals. Epson forged a partnership with World Wide Fund for Nature Philippines, in line with Epson’s escalated efforts to increase awareness on climate change and its effects on the environment. Formed in 2021, the partnership has multiple projects well underway. Earlier this year, they launched Museo Kalikasan, a three-dimensional and immersive virtual museum that allows users from around the world to experience the exhibit from the safety of their homes. Meanwhile, Epson Southeast Asia also partnered with WWF to scale up marine life and achieve a low carbon future, with various marine conservation and climate action projects across the Asia, including the Philippines.

Epson employees learn about biodiversity and sustainable development during the discussion led by the seminar guest speaker, Dino Calderon of WWF Philippines.

Moving forward, Epson will support WWF to work with local communities in Southern Palawan to restore several mangrove sites. In addition, Epson will help WWF establish a Community Learning and Innovation Hub to empower communities to sustain capacity building and share best practices.

“We’re excited to finally put this partnership into action, to create a positive impact not only on our environment but also on the lives of those who will be learning more from this,” said Bonoan. “Epson’s commitment to sustainability has always been integrated in the way we operate, in the products and solutions that we innovate, and the initiatives that we do to help our communities shape a greener future for the next generation.”
