<p>Proving that Filipino talents are world class, Filipino-Canadian Baisas couples composed Ross and Marites Baisas, and Antonio and Maria Elena Baisas, won the First International Snow-Sculpting Competition in Alberta, Canada besting out five other international competitors.</p>
<p>The Baisas Brothers<span data-offset-key="fog0-0-0"> Antonio and Ross,</span> who hail from Paete, Laguna came from a family of wood carvers which certainly worked for their advantage. Paete, a town in Laguna which is dubbed as <em>&#8220;carpenter shops&#8221;</em> because the town is famous for its highly skilled and world class wood carvers with detailed adornment style.</p>
<p>They won in the contest after creating two moose with interlocking antlers from the snow and called their sculpture <em>&#8220;Tangle&#8221;, </em>during the <strong>SnowDays Festiva</strong>l in Banff from January 17-19.</p>

<p>The said winning piece of the Team Baisas is now on showcase at Bear Street in the resort town.</p>
<p>In the interview of The Philippine Business and News through Facebook chat with Ross Baisas, they thank the Filipino community in Banff f0r their support which served as inspiration for them.</p>
<p>As of this posting, Ross Baisas one of the sculptors requested THEPHILBIZNEWS that he will get back on us for more details as they are now working now for another piece until 10pm (Wednesday, Canada time) till tomorrow (Thursday) from 7am-10pm, but they will provide more details on Friday.</p>
<p>Currently, the Baisas couples are in Edmonton to take part in another snow sculpturing which is called <strong>Ice on White</strong> contest from January 23 to 25, Wednesday to Friday.</p>
<p>Their masterpiece &#8220;Tangle&#8221; won both the First Place (Judges’ Pick) and the People’s Choice Awards, respectively.</p>
