The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil, through the Instituto Guimarães Rosa (IGR) and the Embassy of Brazil in Manila, in partnership with QCinema International Film Festival, celebrates National Women’s Month with a special screening of The First Women (As Primeiras), a film produced by Olé Produções and directed by Adriana Yañez — highlighting powerful stories that continue to inspire us across borders.

The documentary, to be shown on March 11, 2026 (Wednesday) at 4 p.m. in Gateway Cineplex 18, follows the pioneering women who formed Brazil’s first national women’s football team, reclaiming space in a sport once banned for them and rewriting history through resilience and sisterhood.

“Join us as we honor the courage, strength, and legacy of the pioneers whose faces and stories paved the way for the consolidation of women’s football in Brazil — and for global stars like Marta,” said the announcement from the Embassy of Brazil in Manila.
