The Center for Empowerment, Innovation and Training on Renewable Energy (CentRE) (https://thecentre.ph/home.html) is a not-for-profit association in the Philippines of RE advocates, developers, researchers, experts and social impact investors pursuing full deployment of RE in the country to address energy poverty, high electricity rates, and climate change in a just, sustainable and democratic manner. With diverse expertise of its members – civil society organizations (CSOs), private industry players, electric cooperatives, academic centers and individuals engaging on energy, climate, environment and good governance – the CentRE is envisaged as a hub for knowledge, social innovation, policy studies, advocacy and community empowerment

The crisis brought on by the global pandemic and the opportunities for recovery and transformational change under a new administration is compelling reasons for various stakeholders to come together and build an altruistic agenda for the common good. The Renewable Energy Congress 2021 will be an important event to engage in a national discussion addressing energy access, affordability, and efficiency through the application or use of renewable energy, as part of the national economic recovery, job creation, and decarbonization efforts.

RE CONGRESS PROPER – SEPTEMBER 25, 2021 (9AM-12NN)

This half-day virtual plenary session shall tackle this big issue/dilemma – How to realize 35% RE share in the energy mix of the Philippines and, if possible, further increase it? As a scene-setter, the key points or recommendations from the deep dive sessions shall be presented before the high-level panel discussion. Another highlight of this event is the presentation of the Manifesto for RE and Just Transition Agenda.

DEEP DIVE SESSIONS – SEPTEMBER 17 (9:30am-11:30am; 1:00-3:00pm; 3:00-5:00pm)

Discussions in these sessions are envisioned to be on the practical level. Concrete solutions or steps to make RE a reality and addressing these concerns will be tackled – energy access, energy efficiency, support for jobs/livelihoods, and/or delivery of services.  The process, including the challenges and learnings, will be discussed especially as regards to technical, financial, policy, and people’s participation to realize RE in various settings or conditions. The summaries for these sessions will be shared with session participants and RE Congress panel speakers a few days before the RE Congress.
